Estanne & Martin Fawer
Host Cocktail Party For

Dr. Robert Schwalbe & His New Book At

The Merrin Gallery

New York, NY - June 17, 2008 – Mr. and Mrs. Estanne and Martin Fawer hosted a private cocktail party and reception for their friend, New York psychoanalyst Dr. Robert Schwalbe who has just released his first book “Sixty, Sexy, and Successful: A Guide for Aging Male Baby Boomers (Greenwood Press) on Tuesday, June 17.  The soiree, held at the lovely Merrin Gallery at 56th Street and Fifth Avenue, allowed family, friends and art lovers to enjoy not only the gallery’s exhibits but also have the chance to listen to the new author talk about his “how to” guide for aging men and their loved ones and learn why he decided to write this book.

Among the guests to mingle over fine wine and hors d’oeuvres were hotelier Debbie Born, gallery owners Jane Gol, Dean Levy ,Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper. Art expert Bobbie Moore, collectors and enthusiasts Cynthia Nachmani, Gail Billig, Jane and Bob Altman, and Michele Gerber Klein spent the early part of the fete enjoying the pre-Columbian and South American ancient works that was strategically placed on the walls and around the gallery while discussing the merits of the new read. Dr. Schwalbe and his wife Janie, dressed in a gorgeous knee length jacket and elegant slacks, were not only celebrating the release of his first book but their 42nd anniversary.  Their sons Joshua, Jeremy, and James, who mingled with Kathleen Gioradano, Avrom Doft, R. Couri Hay and Sharon Bush, who had already purchased six copies of the doctor’s “guide” for friends and family, joined them.

Guests of all of ages mingled at the intimate affair including actor William DeMeo of ‘Sopranos’ fame and his friend Angie Eastwick, Kathy Gantz, Jon Roy and Susie Hahn.  Pink Elephant’s Justin Estill. Jeremiah Silva, who told Helen Yarmak Furriers’ Anait Kiladze that he had just landed a role in ‘Gossip Girl’ the past weekend in the Hamptons, discussed upcoming shows and fashion.  Designers Michael Mione and Steve Gross, Martin Goldman and Dorothy Dunne all commented with a smile on the “Sixty, Sexy, and Successful” buttons that were gifted to all who attended.  Douglas Elliman VP Victoria Vinokur, Ogden Cap’s, Louise and Ed Petz, Sr. VP of Related Properties Judy Rothembert, wedding planner and author Harriette Rose Katz, Ruth Kestenbaum, and Paula Menche wandered from room to room, many purchasing the book and most wearing the funky little buttons that make a perfect keepsake for the event.

In the middle of the party, Dr. Schwalbe took to the podium for a short speech during which he discussed some of the more poignant chapters, including Sex after Sixty, Ageism, Financial Security and overall mental, physical and spiritual health. He concluded by stating, “If we age gracefully and with wisdom, at the very least we can all be sixty, sexy and successful.”   At the end of the party, the doctor and his wife went off to celebrate their anniversary with an intimate dinner  a deux while other guests went home to get started on Chapter # 1, “The Myths and Realities of Life After 60.”
