Greenwich, CT - June 11, 2015 - A Lion’s Roar Brings Together Renowned Women Artists for Peace & Benefits Local Studio School JUNE 5, 2015 GREENWICH, CT. WHEN A LION APPEARS IN GREENWICH, IT ROARS. Exhibit reception is scheduled for Thursday June 11 at 6:00 pm at the Greenwich Art Society Gallery. “INVICTUS,” an oil painting by Ms. Yin-Chu Jou, first-year oil painter and student at the Greenwich Art Society, is sold to the New York City-based American Oriental Arts Foundation (AOAF). The lion is headed to its new home at the AOAF’s headquarters in New York City at One Rockefeller Plaza.  Ms. Yin-Chu Jou, Artistic Director since 2006 of the Greenwich-based Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc.  and Ms. Alice Liu, President of the American Oriental Arts Foundation and Chair of the American Ballet Company.
Ms. Yin-Chu Jou, who serves as Artistic Director since 2006 of the Greenwich-based Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc. (FAF; www.faf.org), is delighted to be able support the Greenwich Art Society with her painting. Under the tutelage of mentor, GAS faculty and Greenwich-based UK painter/artist Ms. Karen Spring, Invictus is Ms. Jou’s second oil painting in her painting career, from the series Circle of Life preceded by the work Kudu: A Beauty in the Wild. Both inspired by the artist’s Big-5 Game Drive experiences during her first visit to South Africa (2013).
These two paintings have both been sold to international art collectors and exhibitors. Additionally, Ms. Jou has recently contributed to the GAS development campaign with her experience in planning international artistic cultural exchanges through FAF by leading the efforts of the Greenwich Art Society 2015 Tour: “An Artistic Taste of Cuba: People-to-People Artistic and Cultural Exchange Program”, open to artists and non-artists alike, taking place in September 29- October 6 this Fall. Ms. Alice Liu, president of the American Oriental Arts Foundation and chair of the American Ballet Company states, “I am delighted to acquire Invictus as part of the foundation. The painting is so full of spirit and life!” Awarded by UNESCO as “The Oriental Flower” for her unique integration of classical ballet and Asian contemporary dance styles, Ms. Liu is this year’s Executive Producer and Lead Centerstage Sponsor of The Rhythms of One World International Choral Festival (TROW2015.nyc) presented by Friendship Ambassadors Foundation. The Festival celebrates the 70th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter “We the Peoples,” (June 26, 1945 San Francisco) at the General Assembly Hall, United Nations Headquarters in New York and at Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall on June 25-29, 2015. During the Festival, Ms. Liu is also sponsoring the professional choir from the renowned National Centre for the Performing Arts of the People’s Republic of China. Ms. Liu will become a Greenwich resident from June 2015. Ms. Anna Patalano, President of the Greenwich Art Society shares, “On behalf of the Greenwich Art Society, I am so very pleased to announce that the painting, “Invictus," an art work in our student show created by Yin-Chu Jou, is being purchased by Ms. Alice Liu and American Oriental Arts Foundation in New York City. The painting will be hung in the Foundation's offices in One Rockefeller Plaza. This is truly a first for GAS as one of its student's works will be displayed in such a prestigious setting. Ms. Jou's progress in the GAS Studio School has been remarkable! We commend her talent and dedication to the process of learning the craft of painting as exemplified by her extraordinary Invictus. Congratulations, Yin, and we  look forward to seeing Invictus in its new home!” Plans are underway for a collaborative exhibition between the three entities here in Greenwich in September 2015.

About Ms. Alice Liu and the American Oriental Arts Foundation Alice Liu, President of the American Oriental Arts Foundation and Chair of the American Ballet Company. Ms. Liu has been involved as producer, director, and sponsor of several major artistic events and productions in New York and at the United Nations for the past decade. Her involvement and direction with events and productions locally and globally, at the United Nations, and contributions to American youth arts education has earned her international acclaim in society and global recognition. Ms. Liu’s integration of Classical ballet and contemporary Asian folk dance styles resulted to her own unique and original dance style, which has been awarded by UNESCO as “The Oriental Flower" and by the State of Ohio as honorary awardee of "Asia-Pacific Cultural Ambassador.” In this year’s 70th anniversary celebration year of the United Nations’ signing of the UN Charter, Ms. Liu serves as the Executive Producer of FAF’s Rhythms of One World International Festival 2015 as her contribution and offering to the United Nations’ goals. www.china21.com
About the Artist Yin-Chu Jou and Friendship Ambassadors Foundation New York City-based concert pianist, visual artist, impresario, international concert, tours & festival producer Yin-Chu Jou was commended by The New York Times in 2006: “Classical pianist Yin-Chu Jou and the Youth Symphony for United Nations travel and play for peace, to promote world peace through music, to find a way to add a social element to musical performance.” Two-time soloist of the Manila Youth Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven and Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concertos (1995, 1998), Ms. Jou was recently awarded Musical America’s 2014 Top Professionals of the Year- “Profiles in Courage: Innovators and Risktakers” as co-founder and producer of the Rhythms of One World Festival, and the 2013 Woman of Achievement by WCBS Newsradio 880 for her “peace through the arts” work. Since 2005, Yin-Chu has been serving as Artistic Director of Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc. (FAF), a nongovernmental organization established in 1973 by Fulbright Scholar Harry Morgan and Cappy Devlin and the founders of Readers Digest Lila and DeWitt Wallace, with formal affiliation with the United Nations Department of Public Information and NGO in
Consultative Status with UNESCO and ECOSOC, where she organizes and develops all FAF’s music programming worldwide including international music exchanges, some of which involve dance, theater or other related art forms, its Feel the Music! Project for the families of the victims of 9/11 (2005), the United Cultures Peace (UC Peace) Performing Arts Festival that takes place during the Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations, Youth Symphony for United Nations (2006- 2008), and The Rhythms of One World International Choral Festival in New York City (2012, 2013, 2014 Geneva, 2015 New York City). She recently produced the Ambassadors Sing for Peace CD (2013) bringing together 5 prominent Ambassadors to the UN to use the power of the arts to promote harmony. Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Senator Hillary Clinton (NY), Congresswoman Nita Lowey (NY) and Congressman Christopher Shays (CT) had formally endorsed her work. FAF’s Artistic Director joins a rich history of many well-known Friendship Ambassadors including former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Mother Theresa, Senator Jay Rockefeller, First President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel, Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Arun Gandhi, among others, and most importantly the tens of thousands of private citizens and millions of lives touched and changed by the performance-centered cultural exchanges that FAF programs engender. She was recognized as Finalist of the Taiwan Junior Chamber International 44th Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in 2006 (11th Place) and was key organizer of the Greenwich, CT (USA)-Vienne (France) Sister-Cities Celebration in Paris and Vienne and Greenwich Choral Society France Tour (2008). Yin-Chu contributed in the Haiti Relief efforts of UNICEF- USA through the production of a combined choral and orchestral concert in Washington, DC that gathered 200 young artists from the US East and West Coasts united in music to benefit the children of Haiti during their time of need.
