On The Town With Aubrey Reuben - September 17, 2016

On the Town With Aubrey Reuben
Where All the Stars Shine Brightly!
September 17, 2016

The Fantasticks, book and lyrics by Tom Jones, music by Harvey Schmidt, at the Jerry Orbach Theatre, is the longest running stage production in the United States. It is a charming chamber musical about a pair of young lovers, who after separating, are reunited for a happy ending. The music is pleasant and the current cast is excellent.

Marie and Rosetta, by George Brant, at the Atlantic Theatre, is about an experienced, older gospel singer rehearing with a younger singer in a funeral home filled with coffins. The 90-minute intermission-less play is filled with the two singers singing gospel and swing songs. That is entertaining, because they have fine voices. The two actresses are directed by Neil Pepe.

Spamilton, created, written and directed by Gerard Alessandrini, at the Triad Theatre, is a parody of the hit Broadway show Hamilton and its creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Alessandriniwho was responsible for 25 editions of Forbidden Broadway, The five member cast and two guest artists sing well and are quite funny. If you cannot get a ticket to the Broadway show, this is a pleasant alternative.

173 Perry Street is a luxurious apartment building, and we watched a sunset unveiling from an elegant duplex apartment, invited by Friedman Rosenthal Team of Halstead Property. A fine rose wine was served with scrumptious hors d'oeuvres by Cipriani. It was gorgeous way to watch a sunset in a lovely setting

Royole founder & CEO Dr. Bill Liu and Akon (photo below), R&B icon, entrepreneur and philanthropist and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) introduced Moon, a foldable 3D Virtual Mobile Theater with headphones for movies and gaming at theThe Rubin Museum, 150 West 17th St. Himalayan hors d'oeuvres were served plus two fine wines and a Moon cocktail with coconut milk, tequila, triple sec and lemon. It was delicious. It was a happy event.

Susan Charlotte (photo below) hosted a tango party in her penthouse. After wine and hors d'oeuvres were served, Leonardo Silva Diaz and his wife Olga performed two dances and he sang one song. They were terrific, and it was a lovely party.

The 90th Annual Feast of the San Gennaro Festival is a joyous occasion. A Cannoli Eating Competition took place on the stage at Mott St and Grand St. Ferrara Bakery served cannolis to the spectators afterwards. They were delicious!

The Jewish Museum, 1009 Fifth Avenue, held a press preview of four exhibitions to February 12, 2017. They are superb. Masterpieces  & Curiosities. The Television Project with the classic advertisement about Levi's rye bread, John Sargent Singer's portrait of the Speyer Family and memorabilia, and Take It It's Yours, by many international creative artists, who offer the visitor a bag to take ribbons, buttons, cans of soda, T-shirts, and much more to take away. Where can you go to acquire a piece of art free!
