Palm Beach, FL - The Palm Beach Area Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Annual Gala took place on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at The Mar-a-Lago Club, Palm Beach.

The event began with a cocktail reception taking place around the pool where guests were treated to sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and Gypsy fortune tellers. The more than 300 guests also mingled in the white and gold ballroom while bidding on an array of fantastic silent auction items.

After cocktails, guests entered the ballroom, which was transformed by
Sutra International into a scene right out of “A Gypsy Caravan”. The event’s Master of Ceremonies, Tim Byrd, welcomed everyone and then introduced Ferenc Illenyi, his band of Gypsys and the Fred Astaire Dancers.  The Gala Chairmen, Geri and Frank Morrow, were then introduced by Donald Trump and thanked all in attendance for their support. Special recognition was given to Lighthouse Partners for their continued support over the past several years and to Patrick Park and Nathalie Fernandez for their support as Benefactors of this year’s Gala.  Also recognized this evening were the Annual Gala’s International Chair, Hermé de Wyman Miro, Honorary Chair, Ari Rifkin, Chairman Emeritus, Elizabeth Fago and Host Gala Chairs, Donald and Melania Trump.

Before starting the live auction, special guest, Alison Leslie, shared with the attendees about her past, present and future as a Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor. Her inspiring words moved the crowd to tears and encouraged a giving spirit during the live auction.

Special guests recognized included the event’s Honorary National Chairs – Rhoda & David Chase, Simon & Norma Fireman, Mary Virginia Knight & Henry Fong, Lisa Leder, Erin & Sean McGould, Sydelle Meyer, Suzy Minkoff and Dick & Sally Robinson; Junior Gala Chairmen – Joey Fago and
Richard Jankus and the Gala Committee.

Local sponsors of the Annual Gala included Grand Benefactor - Lighthouse Partners, LLC; Benefactor – Patrick Park & Nathalie Fernandez; Gypsy Guitars -  Mr. & Mrs. John Bulfin, The Rhoda and David Chase Family Foundation, Mr. Bob Lappin, Dr. Karen Mashkin, Ms. Suzy Minkoff,
Ms. Hermé de Wyman Miro,
and Mrs. Ari Rifkin; Cocktail Reception Sponsor - Leder Family Foundation and Jewelry Sponsor –
Hamilton Jewelers

All proceeds from the annual gala benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the nation’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improving the quality of life of patients and their families.  For more information, contact Darby Collins, Senior Campaign Director at (561) 775-9954.
