June 2, 2010 

 

 

On Wednesday, June 2, 2010, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Central Park Conservancy’s Taste of Summer, an al fresco event will be held in a tent in front of Central Park’s Naumburg Bandshell, in the middle of the Park at 72nd Street. Over 1,000 guests will enjoy a buffet dinner of culinary delights prepared by over 40 renowned New York chefs, a luxury-filled silent auction, and dancing to one of the City’s hottest DJs. The Trustee Chairmen are Jay Mandelbaum and Norman Selby. The Host Committee includes Gillian Miniter, Angel Sanchez, Alexandra Lebenthal, David Patrick Columbia and Patrick McMullan. Funds raised will benefit the Conservancy and its mission to maintain and preserve Central Park. Tickets begin at $350; contact Melissa Kinsella at 212-310-6691 or mkinsella@centralparknyc.org

What:               
Taste of Summer brings together over 1,000 guests each June under the stars in Central Park for this distinctive kick-off to summer in New York City.  The event features culinary delights prepared by over 40 renowned New York chefs, a luxury-filled silent auction, and dancing to one of the City’s hottest DJs.  A VIP Café area is available exclusively to table buyers.

The event raises funds to benefit the Central Park Conservancy and its mission to maintain and preserve Central Park.

VIP Café:         
The VIP Café is a reserved section with exclusive tastings is available to table buyers.  
Tables are $8,000 and $12,000 each.
In 2009 the VIP Café was hosted by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008 the VIP Café was hosted by Jean Georges Vongerichten.

Silent Auction:  Includes:
Two night stay at The Breakers in Palm Beach; Five night stay at the Capella Pedregal resort in Cabo San Lucas; Haircut by John Barrett at his Salon at Bergdorf Goodman; Two night stay at the Surrey Hotel in NYC with breakfast at Cafe Boulud and a massage at the Sap at The Surrey for two; Dinner and wine pairing for four at The Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel . . . list is in formation

About the Conservancy

The Central Park Conservancy is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1980 that manages Central Park under a contract with the City of New York/Department of Parks and Recreation. Thanks to the generosity of many individuals, corporations, and foundations, the Conservancy has raised more than $500 million to date and has transformed Central Park into a model for urban parks nationwide. The Conservancy provides more than 85% of Central Park's annual $27 million operating budget and is responsible for all basic care of the Park.
