GREEN-WOOD HISTORIC FUND HONORS PETE HAMILL,
AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST, EDITOR AND NATIVE BROOKLYNITE AT FOURTH ANNUAL BENEFIT

Proceeds will Support Historic Preservation Projects,
Community Outreach Events  & Educational Programs at Brooklyn’s Historic Green-Wood

On Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.,
award-winning journalist and author Pete Hamill will be honored
with the DeWitt Clinton Award for Excellence presented by the Green-Wood Historic Fund at its fourth annual benefit. Proceeds will support Green-Wood’s impressive array of preservation projects, community outreach events and educational programs. The fundraiser will take place at Brooklyn’s Historic Green-Wood Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark.

A Brooklyn native, Hamill is a world-renowned journalist, novelist, essayist, editor and educator. With more than 50 years experience in the newspaper business, Hamill has served as editor of the New York Post and editor in chief of the New York Daily News and has written for the Village Voice and New York Newsday. He is the author of 21 books, including the novel Tabloid City, published this year. Hamill has written fondly and frequently about Green-Wood and has described it as “one of the great urban glades.”

The benefit will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music, the award presentation and 15-minute trolley excursions around Green-Wood throughout the evening led by Green-Wood’s historian. The Artful Conspirators, a Brooklyn-based collective of theater artists, will also be on-hand for some impromptu performances throughout the event.

A $150 General Admission ticket admits one person to the event.

The $250 V.I.P. ticket admits two people to the fundraiser,
plus entrance for two to the V.I.P. Hour, a private reception with Mr. Hamill; C. Payson Coleman, Jr., Esq., chairman of The
Green-Wood Historic Fund; Green-Wood president,
Richard J. Moylan; and others inside the Historic Chapel.

For more information, to purchase tickets, make a donation to the Green-Wood Historic Fund, or to inquire about sponsorship or Host Committee opportunities, please call 718-210-3080 or e-mail lisa_alpert@green-wood.com  or visit www.green-wood.com . Guests should RSVP by September 8, 2011. Attire is business casual and guests should enter at Green-Wood’s main gate at 25th Street and 5th Avenue in Brooklyn.
