The Horticultural Society of New York’s New York Flower Show dinner dance (formerly Flowers and Design) this year will highlight the spirit of the Hort's famous and historical New York Flower Show.  It will focus on table designs of New York’s finest floral, fashion and interior designers (see below) and transform 583 Park Avenue into a magical setting by creating table designs reflecting the theme Fire & Ice. For the first time ever, the showing of table designs will be open to the public from 3:00pm – 5:00pm, followed by the Horticultural Society’s annual dinner dance. The New York Flower Show supports The HSNY’s mission of enhancing New York City’s environmental and cultural life by providing unique educational, vocational and therapeutic outreach programs, library resources and exhibitions. The Horticultural Society of New York’s programs help to expand New York City’s greening efforts and to ensure that all New Yorkers enjoy the benefits of horticulture, from the beautification of home and garden.  Their program also includes the community enhancement of public green space, the growing of fresh vegetables on urban farms and the job opportunities of landscape and design and maintenance. Funds raised help support, Green City, Green Work, Apple Seed, The Barbara A. Margolis Library, The Art Gallery and Horticulture Services.

Bowman Dahl Floral & Event Design

Her floral designs have been seen at parties of all sizes from the Grammies to intimate dinners. With a career beginning in publishing, her design esthetic quickly led her to photo styling and bridal flowers. Fleurs Bella

Bella Meyer, founder and Creative Director of Fleurs Bella, was born in Paris and grew up immersed in art. Indeed, as the granddaughter of Marc Chagall, the whole focus on home was on his work, on art and beauty.

Flowers have always been close to Bella’s heart. Working with each flower’s innate beauty, highlighting and juxtaposing their texture and color, Bella strives to achieve the unique message of the client. Each and every installation becomes a manifestation of expression, a unique evolving dialogue between artist and client.

Flowers by Daye

Flowers By Daye is a full-service studio that can go beyond tabletop arrangements to create an entire original look.

Daye's signature style, in a word is "Harmonious." Influences range from European culture and big-city sophistication to her own simple Japanese heritage and revered Buddhist traditions.

H. Hartley du Pont

Hartley du Pont grew up on her family horse farm in New Jersey. From her earliest memories, she was inspired by her grandmother Grace Hartley Mead, who would rise before dawn to pick flowers from her extensive gardens. Du Pont, who is President Emeritus of the School of the Arts Alumni Association of Columbia University finds, flowers to be the most fragrant and colorful artistry. She earned her B.A. degree at Bard College, and her M.F.A. degree from Columbia specializing in printmaking, but for as long as she can remember she was picking flowers, wild and domestic, from her parents woods and fields, and decorating the tables. Du Pont has exhibited in many shows, including Barney's New York Red Window Exhibit, and has had a solo show at the National Academy of Design of her prints and pastels.

Additionally, she trained as a costume designer in New York City, and designed costumes for Off Broadway productions, as well as assisting designers on many shows. She often displays a love of the dramatic in her flair for color and size.

A professional journalist and designer, du Pont has been a sports columnist for the New York daily News, and a reporter for the Associated Press. She has been a feature writer for many national and international publications, including Elle, Self, and Harper's Bazaar magazines. Du Pont has been the designer of the Winter Ball for the Musuem of the City of New York, including all floral arrangements for 13 consecutive years, and has designed for this event every year since its inception 14 years ago. Many of her designs have been photographed for magazines and newspapers, and she serves as Vice Chair of Events and Programs for Columbia's Alumni Association, is a member of the Senate Committee on Honors and Prizes, as well as Chairman of the SolarOne Event in New York. She is currently working on a book of table top settings and flowers called "Lifestyle by du Pont."

Hugh McMahon

Hugh McMahon takes an ordinary piece of fruit and creates dynamic sculptures that enlightens any environment. He's an original artist whose talent for carving pumpkins and watermelons has featured him in many restaurants, events, television, magazines, and books throughout the world.

Janet Simon Inc.

A designer since 1979, Janet Simon has distinguished the art of living well with elegance and luxurious style. Based in Morristown, New Jersey, Janet Simon Inc. specializes in one-of-a-kind residential, commercial and civic projects. Janet draws upon her classical art knowledge to transform each assignment into a custom experience; every element personifies a thoughtful process that defines the details to tell the story. Utilizing color as a tool to express her infectious joy for living, Janet parlays her passion for entertaining to create inviting and timeless interiors that lend themselves to be lived-in and not just admired—a genuine quality of a modern-day decorator. Janet received a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Lafayette College, and also studied in Florence, Italy, as well as at the New York School of Interior Design. She lives in New Vernon, New Jersey, with her husband and four children.  

Jerry Rose Floral & Event Design

In his 25 years as a floral and event designer, Jerry Rose has designed and produced some of the most talked-about weddings and parties in New Jersey, New York and beyond. A Jerry Rose production, whether for his corporate or private clients, is meticulously planned and designed, with a myriad of custom details and personal touches. Each event is treated as an opportunity to create a singular environment, where flowers, art, and entertainment co-exist in magical harmony for the guests.

Alana Rose Guglielmo-Hearn is a New York-based floral and event designer, specializing in destination weddings and events. Nancy Swiezy Events

Ms. Swiezy is a Floral Designer and Event Planner. As the preferred florist for many N.Y. charities, she has planned many society weddings in Newport R.I., the Hamptons, and NYC.

Rachel Cho Inc.

With clean style and design being the key focus in all of Rachel Cho's creations, she expresses her art and vision through colors, textures, and the graphic structure of flowers. She attributes her start to her mother Sharon who still owns and runs a highly acclaimed local flower boutique in the Bronx. Having a background in fashion, she launched her own company in 2005 focusing on events, weddings, and corporate accounts with a distinctive style that is clean, modern, and luxurious. She quickly built a reputation in the industry and among her clients, receiving glowing reviews as having exceptional talent, unwavering service, and a generous spirit. Award-winning and internationally re-nowned garden, floral and interior designer Rebecca Cole has developed her lifestyle and design business over the past 18 years, known as Rebecca Cole GROWs. Designer of hundreds of New York City’s green roofs, terraces, outdoor "living rooms", events, weddings and interiors for a diverse array of clients that includes The James Hotel, Bono,the Clintons,,Oprah,Nike, Julie Andrews, Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Lewis Black, Megan Mullally, Christy Turlington, William Wegmen, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Pat Fields and the Murdoch clan. Reed McIlvaine is one of the nation’s premier event and floral designers. He is the proprietor of Renny & Reed, the famed New York floral resource known for creating exceptionally memorable special events, society weddings, and stunningly elegant bouquets.

Sarah Hobden is the creative director of Renny & Reed. With more than 18 years of experience in all aspect of the floral industry, she has both the in-depth horticultural expertise and natural design flair to create events and settings that dazzle and inspire.

Rod Winterrowd Inc.

Following a successful television career as a Senior Vice President at Walt Disney Studios, Rod Winterrowd founded his own interior design firm in 2001. RWI is a global residential design firm that oversees the design and management of residential projects. Current projects range across the country from a private home in Beverly Hills, a penthouse in Paris, to a client’s own island in the Bahamas, circling home to New York City where the business is commissioned for apartments and townhouses, Westchester estates, and extensive work throughout the Hamptons.

Mr. Winterrowd was recently awarded the annual prestigious Ballinger Award for the best renovated landmark home on the ocean by the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach. RWI’s offices are located on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue and works with clients to create beautiful, classic interiors, and consults on new projects as well as the restoration and renovation of existing properties.

Sebastian Li

Sebastian Li was born and raised in Sea Cliff, New York. He studied art and photography in Boston before settling in New York and launching his business. A proud descendent of a bohemian family, Sebastian channels the creativity of artists like Hermann Dudley Murphy, a celebrated painter of the Boston School; Dudley Murphy, the pioneer director of Ballet Mécanique (1924) and the The Emperor Jones (1933); and Grace Li, whose award-winning azalea garden once flourished in Glen Cove, New York.
