Black Tie International:
Lifeline New York
Increase the Odds for Orphans Fundraiser

Lifeline New York is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives of helpless children and others suffering in Serbia, especially orphans, infants and people with disabilities. Working together with the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation, Lifeline New York delivers desperately needed supplies to all those in need and vital medical equipment to hospitals and clinics. Lifeline New York’s humanitarian efforts have included the donation of computers and toys to orphans to let them know they have not been forgotten. Neonatal ultrasound machines have been provided to address Serbia’s staggering infant mortality rate with five babies dying out of every 1,000 born—one of the highest percentages in all of Europe.  In addition, Serbia has one of the highest mortality rates from breast cancer in all of Europe, with 30 out of every 100,000 diagnosed women dying. To address this, Lifeline New York gave a mobile mammography unit to help with early detection of breast cancer.

On Thursday, March 15 from 7 to 10 p.m., the “Increase the Odds for Orphans” fundraiser is being held at the Altman Building at 135 West 18th Street. During a silent auction, guests will have the opportunity to bid on a number of highly prized items, including a 7-day stay at a South Beach Penthouse, valued at $140,000. There will be gambling with play money, which can be exchanged for raffle tickets and chances to win fabulous prizes.  In addition, attendees can enjoy a live performance by world-class pop vocalist Antonia Bennett, daughter of the legendary Tony Bennett. Guests will be amazed by Antonia’s unique voice and her contemporary yet timeless music. (To hear more, visit

The committee for the March 15 event includes: HRH Prince Peter of Serbia, HRH Prince Philip of Serbia, HRH Prince Alexander of Serbia, HRH Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Susan Gutfreund, David Hryck, Cass Almendral and Peter Pizzino, among others. Special guests will be HRH Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia (godson of Queen Elizabeth) and HRH Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia.

Lifeline New York anticipates nearly 500 guests, including celebrities, financial leaders, socialites and royalty. Guests at previous events have included supermodel Petra Nemcova, TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia, Colin Cowie, David Berke, Felicia Taylor, Johan Lindeberg, Cheri Kaufman, Bill Sclight, Sharon Bush, Elisabeth Thieriot and Arnie & Paola Rosenshein.

General admission tickets can be purchased for $225 and VIP tickets for $450 at Tables can be purchased for $5,000. More information about “Increase the Odds for Orphans” can be found at
