Kelly Cares Foundation's Annual Irish Eyes Gala
The Kelly Cares Foundation held its annual Irish Eyes Gala
and presented its Inaugural Spirit of Giving Award to Jon
and Dorothea Bon Jovi, founders of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul
Foundation. The Kelly Cares Foundation also honored Peter
Schivarelli, Manager of the band Chicago, with its
Leadership in Health Award, and Anne
Thompson, Chief Environmental Affairs Correspondent at
NBC News, with its Leadership in Education Award. The Kelly
Cares Foundation also presented a $20,014 check to
Special Olympics USA in honor of the Special Olympics taking
place in
New Jersey in summer 2014.
The Kelly Cares Foundation was established by Notre Dame
head football coach Brian Kelly and his wife Paqui Kelly to
support organizations, initiatives and programs that closely
align with the goals and values of the Kelly family. A
strong emphasis has been made on three main pillars: Health, Education,
and Community.
Since its founding in 2008, the Kelly Cares Foundation has
donated more than $1.3 million to support causes locally,
nationally, and globally. It has recently supported the
Breast Cancer Research Foundation, South Bend Center for the
Homeless, Breezy Point Disaster Relief Fund, and Notre Dame
Hesburgh Library.
