SCHECK HILLEL COMMUNITY
SCHOOL’S ANNUAL EVENT IS A MOMENTOUS SUCCESS
A Celebration of Kulanu and Momentum
Nearly 450 Scheck
Hillel Community School supporters,
alumni, parents, grandparents, community rabbis and
dignitaries attended the early childhood through grade
12 Jewish school’s 2015 Annual Event on March 17 in
North Miami Beach. The exhilarating and inspirational
Liz Murray from Homeless
to Harvard, a story about a young woman’s personal
triumph over adversity and stunning example of the
importance of dreaming big, was the keynote speaker at
the Annual Event, which helped raise more than $100,000
to benefit Scheck Hillel’s Kulanu Scholarship Fund,
which is equivalent to 10 scholarships for 10 students.
For the
first time, the Annual Event was held on campus in the
Diener Athletic Center. The event was all about opening
doors and used the evening to recognize the Momentum
Campaign Leadership. Opening Doors serves as a metaphor
for the exciting events and milestones that have
happened at the school the past year, including
providing opportunities for families through the Kulanu
Scholarship Fund, physically opening the doors of the
new Athletic Complex, recognizing the leadership that
made it possible as well as empowering its community to
participate and bring Phase II of the Momentum campus
expansion project, the Eduplex, to reality.
“This
year’s Annual Event was an overwhelming success, which
speaks volumes about the strong support and commitment
we have from the community,” said Head of School Dr.
Ezra Levy. “Scheck Hillel provided more than $1.8
million in scholarships last year to nearly 20% percent
of the student body. Thanks to our community, we’ll be
able to continue providing children with the very best
Jewish education, regardless of a family’s ability to
pay.”
Scheck
Hillel’s Annual Event was chaired by Evelyn and Isaac
Marcushamer; Jennifer and Daniel Naim; and Dana and
Joshua Schrager.
Scheck Hillel Community School’s 14-acre
campus is home to nearly 1,100 students and is the
second-largest Jewish community day school in North
America. For more information about the Blue Ribbon
