19, 2013 – Russell Simmons and Rabbi Marc Schneier welcomed
250 young leaders to the beautiful home of the Foundation’s
chairman Russell Simmons on Monday, March 18th.
Benefit Chair Ali Naqvi honored power attorney Sal
Strazzullo for his work with Muslim and Jewish leaders.
Soledad
O'Brien delivered opening remarks for the evening and
implored the next generation of Young Leadership to step up
and determine the future of interethnic relations. In
attendance were Grammy winning Muslim American rapper Q-Tip,
Jay Sean, Madame Mayhem and Grammy winning Israeli musician
Miri Ben Ari along with Ndaba and Kweku Mandela, Kerry
Speilberg, Kiera Chaplin, Billy Morrissey, Whitney Hearst
and scores of New York's young leaders in business and
philanthropy. Sharis Shirbabadi, Benjamin Bronfman, and
Paramdeep Singh also received recognition for their work
with the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding.
The Foundation is the international address
for Muslim Jewish and national address for Black Jewish
relations. Simmons quipped, "I have never seen Muslim-Jewish
relations be so sexy. I am used to working with Imams and
Rabbis, not quite as sexy."
