Darien, CT June 25, 2007. The NFL Alumni’s newly formed CT
Chapter held it’s inaugural Charity Golf Classic at The
Country Club of Darien in Darien, CT. It was a big success
raising nearly six figures, with the money to be distributed
to children’s charities mainly in the state of Connecticut.
The Governor of CT, the Honorable Jodi Rell issued a
proclamation declaring June 25th, “Caring For Kids Day” in
honor of the tournament. Over 30 NFL Alumni participated in
the event, including newly retired NY Giant Tiki Barber,
Honorary Chairman, Frank Gifford, Steve Thurlow-former Giant
and CT Chapter President, Former Jets players Mark Gastineau
and Dave Herman, Former Philadelphia Eagles QB and ESPN
analyst Ron Jaworski, Terry Hanratty Former Pittsburgh Steeler
QB and many more great players. It was a beautiful day,
concluding with an awards party, entertainment, a live and
silent auction and lobster bake. Plans are already underway
for the second annual. |
