Artistic Director Dr. Thea Kano
conducts the New York City
Master Chorale for this rare
performance of Morten
Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, as well
as some traditional holiday
favorites. The five movements
of Lux Aeterna are connected
through their references to
Light. Composed as a tribute to
Lauridsen’s late mother, the
work is a powerful examination
of spirituality, artistry and
intellect. Ms. Kano, best known
for her work with The Washington
Chorus and The Capitol Hill
Youth Chorus, has prepared the
chorale for their third
full-length season, which kicks
off with this holiday
performance. Assistant
Conductor, Rasaan Bourke, will
accompany the performances on
piano and organ.
