On Thursday,
January 15, 2009 City Opera
will present a gala concert of
Samuel Barber's Antony and
Cleopatra in honor of the great
American composer's centennial
year. The superb cast will be
headlined by City Opera
favorite, Lauren Flanigan as
Cleopatra, debuting baritone
Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Antony, and
rising dramatic tenor Simon
O'Neill as Caesar. Gala guests
will join us for pre-performance
cocktails and dinner and return
during intermission for
champagne and dessert. VIP
guests($15,000+) will be invited
to the cast party following the
performance.
All proceeds from the Antony &
Cleopatra gala concert support
City Opera's mission to produce
exciting new and classic work
and bring music into the lives
of thousands of students each
year through its acclaimed
education programs in the New
York City public schools.
