Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Palm Beach County, Inc. announces
their second annual Big
Sisters Luncheon being held
on Thursday,
November 13, 2008 at the Beach Club in Palm Beach.
This year, the program features
Deborah Kanafani internationally

her controversial non-fiction
book, “Unveiled” How
An American Woman Found Her Way
Through Politics, Love
and Obedience in the Middle East.
Deborah Kanafani is
the former wife of Yassier Arafat's

the UNDP, UNICEF, and various
European countries. She will speak
about her experiences in the Middle
East and how she ran conflict
resolution programs between
Palestinians and Israelis. She was
Executive Director of Women in Film
and Video in Washington, DC, and a
consultant for Oxygen Media.
Terry Lee
Kaly, CEO of Big Brothers Big
Sisters expressed, “Women of all
cultures and faiths will find the
author of
Unveiled,
Deborah Kanafani, a compelling
speaker and mentor to women who have
ever felt oppressed or victimized in
a relationship. The self learning
aspect of her reflections and
personal growth as a woman is
compelling and challenges all of us
to look at the global issue of being
taken seriously in whatever part of
the world you may live, work and try
to make a difference in.”
For over 34 years Big Brothers Big
Sisters has been helping children
reach their full potential as men
and women by matching them with an
adult mentor during their adolescent
years. It is through this program
that volunteer mentors are trained
to meet the needs and enhancing a
young person’s life.
Luncheon tickets are $125, and
include lunch at the Beach Club and
an autographed copy of
Unveiled. Tables are $1,000
and other sponsorship opportunities
are available. The champagne
reception and registration will
begin at 11:00 a.m. The luncheon
will begin at 12 o’clock noon. For
