PALM BEACH, FL.  With a mission to create awareness of an often silent killer, Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper (H.O.W.) is proud to announce their 2009 season event, the Time is of the Essence luncheon. The luncheon, which will be held at 11:30 a.m on January 12, 2009 at the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach, will feature guest speaker and ovarian cancer expert, Professor Ian Jacobs, Dean of the Health Science Research Institute of the University College of London. Professor Jacobs is currently directing a screening study of ovarian cancer in 200,000 asymptomatic women in the U.K, the largest screening study ever undertaken in the world for any cancer. Co-chairs of the event are Patricia Cook and Kit Pannill; Honorary Chair is Mary Schott. Ticket price is $325. Major sponsor is Wilmington Trust.

In January 2002, with the help of Palm Healthcare Foundation, Jacquie Liggett founded H.O.W. (Hearing Ovarian Cancer Whisper) to encourage awareness. Each year H.O.W. raises money to support research in ovarian cancer by funding the Jacquie Liggett Fellowship. In addition, women with ovarian cancer experiencing great financial need are helped through the Jacquie Liggett Angel Fund.
