New York, June 15, 2007. Supporters of emerging artists and
writers joined Scholastic Chairman, President and CEO Richard
Robinson for a benefit dinner for The Alliance for Young
Artists & Writers at the Mandarin Oriental.
The dinner followed an inspiring ceremony at Carnegie Hall,
which featured Broadway stars Blair Brown and Amy Ryan; Chuck
Palahniuk, bestselling author of Fight Club and Choke; and 500
talented teenagers and their teachers and family. The
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards (www.artandwriting.org)

across the country. The 84-year old institution has offered
artistic validation to such talented teenagers as Richard
Avedon, Andy Warhol, Joyce Carol Oates, John Lithgow, Sylvia
