With
tableside seating
and choices of hot
and cold food
concessions at the
matches and a full
service bar on site,
spectators need not
plan ahead. The
Twisted Pony Bar
is known for
its craft beer
selection, premium
spirits and
collection of
boutique wines from
all over the
universe.
Bluepoint
offers a
mouthwatering raw
bar, and Grillmasters offers a standard menu of
sweet Italian
sausage, hamburgers,
hot dogs, BBQ Pulled
pork, and a chicken
special, chips, and
homemade desserts;
weekly specials
including vegetable
calzones to die for,

Philly cheese steak
sandwiches. Catering
platters can be
ordered from either
concessionaire for
individuals/groups
wishing to pre-order
for the

But if
you prefer your own
cooking, then pack a
tailgate picnic and
cooler with iced
down beverages to be
doled out to the
group huddled around
the tailgate of your
SUV. Whatever your
choice, it can be
consumed from
field-side blankets
and lawn chairs just
a few feet away from
the polo action.
One
seasonal resident of
Newport admits to
reserving a Patron
Table for the
four-month polo
season because "We
have houseguests all
summer and the polo
matches are a great
way to entertain
them without lifting
a finger."
Just in
from booking a
Newport
bride's nuptial
party at a polo
match this month,
Polo Series
organizer Agnes Keating attests to the
fact
that every weekend
there are groups of
all shapes and sizes
convening to mark
every occasion from
birthdays,
engagements,
anniversaries and
class reunions, to
entertaining
houseguests,
clients, business
colleagues, friends
or neighbors," or
simply reciprocating
a previous
invitation with an
easy entertainment
option that doesn't
require cleaning the
house or hiring
help."
"But
there is no need to
wait for a
special occasion",
insists Keating.
"Just to enjoy these
glorious days of
summer with a chance
to get outdoors for
an afternoon of
affordable
entertainment with
the kids and family
is reason enough to
come."
Matches in June,
July and August
begin at 5pm and
matches in September
begin at 4pm and
last about two
hours. The
sprawling lawn and
surrounding fields
offer an opportunity
for dog-lovers to
bring
Marmaduke
along on a lead for
the afternoon, and
Moms swear it's the
only activity their
teenage kids are
still willing to do
with the rest of the
family. Attire is
casual. Shopping

hand-painted
signature jewelry

leather handbags by

The Series
takes place at the
historic and
picturesque Glen
Farm, 715 East Main Road
(Route 138) in
Portsmouth
,
RI ,
just 6 miles north
of downtown
Newport. Glen Farm is the
remaining 100 acres
of a
700-acre manorial
farm whose history
dates back to the
1600's. Its
classical stone
barns from the
Gilded Age and its
park-like grounds
were rescued from
ruins and
rehabilitated by the
Newport Polo Club's
founder in the early
90's and thrive
today as a vital
