New Yorkers are culture crazy, so it was no surprise that The
National Arts Awards for Americans for the Arts atCipriani’s
42nd street, Monday October 15th, the nation’s leading
nonprofit organizations for advancing the arts brought out
illustrious philanthropists, politicos and artists. Mayors
Bloomberg and Dinkins, the Annenbergs, Jo Carole and Ronald
Lauder, Julie and Edward Minskoff, Yoko Ono, Felicia Taylor,
Jeanne Claude and Christo,Larry Gagosian, Frank Stella, Kate
Burton and Y & R actress and foster care advocate Victoria
Rowell, LA philanthropist Eli Broad, and Jesse Norman were
among those who came to honor Wallis Annenberg,
EllsworthKelly, John Legend, Anna Deavere Smith, the Music
Industry and NAMM, and the United States Conference of
Mayors as they received special awards for their
contribution to the arts. Americans for the Arts promotes
private and public support of the arts, including educating
key decision makers.
“Our recent economic study shows that non profit arts is a
66 billion dollar industry,” PR & Marketing Coordinator Liz
Bartolomeo told us. “So the arts give back to the community.
Every dollar donated createsancillary jobs and tax revenue.
Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit
organization for advancing the arts in America hosts the
National Arts Awards - a celebration of national leadership
in the arts. The National Arts honors individuals and
corporations who enrich our country’s cultural landscape
through both magnificent artistry and philanthropic
