March 5, 2009 – Last week, the American Heart
Association hosted a Dessert Challenge at Trata East in
Water Mill. More than 130 guests enjoyed sampling
desserts from some of the East Ends finest
establishments. The participants included: Trata, The
Lodge, Bamboo, Blue Duck Bakery, Gurney’s Beach Bakery,
Elegant Affairs, and Four Seasons Caterers Southampton.
The evening’s
winning dessert was the “Vegan Delight Dessert”
from Gurney’s Beach Bakery. The winning dessert
was a Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Mousse Filling and
Fresh Raspberries made with absolutely no animal
products. Gurney’s Beach Bakery will have their dessert
featured at the 2009 Heart of the Hamptons Gala on June
20, 2009. The winner was determined by event guests who
voted for their favorite dessert of the night.
The Dessert
Challenge helped raise more than $6,000 for the American
