Easter Seals & Friendly’s Announce New focus for
28 –Year Fundraising Campaign

Restaurant chains launch ‘Cones for Kids’ Fundraiser to support Easter Seals Camp Friendly’s

West Palm Beach – From now through through February 13th Friendly’s Ice Cream Corporation launches its annual Valentine’s Day Fundraiser to benefit local Easter Seals Camp programs.

Each year since 1981, Friendly’s employees and guests join forces to help change the lives of thousands of children and adults with disabilities.  Through their efforts they have raised $25.2 million to date; more than $619,000 in 2008 alone!

Friendly’s Restaurant guests who make a $1 donation to Easter Seals will receive 5 Valentine’s Day cards, redeemable for free Friendly’s Kid Cones plus $5 off a $25 purchase coupon for parents.

To double-dip in the fundraising, Friendly’s in Palm Springs will hold a “Celebrity Scoop Night” on February 5 from 5-7pm where Virginia Lang from WiLD 95.5 and Jay Cashmere from WPTV NewsChannel 5 will be scooping up ice cream and serving guests. Tips from the evening will support the Easter Seals camp program.

Then on February 7 from 10am – 3pm, Friendly’s in Boynton Beach will host a Fun Day to raise additional funds for Easter Seals. Families can enjoy bounce houses, clowns, finger painting, raffles, entertainment and games.

Everyone loves a Friendly’s Ice Cone…

“Kids and families know that it’s never too cold outside to go for an ice cream cone.  Servers make sure that every guest has a chance to give,” says Kevin McNamara Vice President, Operations Support Services, Friendly’s Ice Cream Corporation.  “‘Cones for Kids’ is good for business and we know that our contributions to Easter Seals make it possible for children with disabilities to have a great summer camp experience.”

Funds raised will support Easter Seals Camp Challenge in Sorrento, FL.  Thanks to Camp Challenge, children are able to build a sense of independence and accomplishment.  Camp provides an opportunity for kids with disabilities to be included in regular camp activities including swimming, arts and crafts, fishing, music recreation, and nature trail walks.

“We’re so inspired by Friendly’s enthusiasm to help our children!  The funds they raise will support our ability to send children with special needs to Camp Challenge over the summer”, said Rhonda Clinton, executive director for Easter Seals Palm Beach, Martin & St. Lucie Regions.  “What a wonderful gift they’re giving our children, and much-needed respite needed for their families.  Thank you Friendly’s!”
