The 33rd
Annual Bal des Arts, Impressions of an Age,
will take place at the Norton Museum of Art on Saturday, February 7,
2009, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. This elegant evening will celebrate
the upcoming Special Exhibition Landscapes from the Age of
Impressionism, organized by the Brooklyn Museum, which will be
on view at the Norton Museum February 6 through May 10, 2009.
Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism
presents 40 of the finest examples of mid-19th through
early 20th-century French and American landscape
paintings from the Brooklyn Museum's collection, including such
leading French artists as Gustave Courbet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred
Sisley and Claude Monet, and their most significant American
followers including Frederick Childe Hassam and John Singer Sargent.
The Bal
des Arts will include a special preview of Landscapes from
the Age of Impressionism, beautiful live performers, music,
dancing, casino raffle, and a fabulous dinner. Tickets cost $1,000
