STELLA RISING
is a one woman musical theater piece performed by
Napua Davoy based on her mother''s life and her
eventual struggle with Alzheimer's. As a young
Chinese-Hawaiian woman working in Japan after World War
2, she met a young serviceman from Oklahoma who married
her and brought her home to the states. A typical
dysfunctional family life followed. The father drank.
The children hid from beatings, and then everything
began to change. Stella Rising is a powerful and
personal tale. Napua Davoy uses drama, humor, music and
dance to introduce us to her mother,
the unforgetttable Stella.
It is extremely important to watch this play if you are
experiencing or have experienced a parent with
Alzheimer's or such related memory impairments.
Napua Davoy has recorded 4 albums and appeared in top
venues such as Birdland and Yoshi's. She has performed
the worldover and has toured frequently in Europe and
Russia.
