The Chinese City of Chengdu, nicknamed
"the land
of abundance,
Chengdu is a city with more than 2300 years of history.
Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan Province, a national
central city
and the hub of western China's cultural, business
and finance.
It is also a center for science, education, transportation and
communications. Further more Chengdu houses the largest airport
in Western Chengdu and is ranked the first in China’s western
cities.
In 2017, nourished by its innovative genes and inclusive temperament,
Chengdu is building itself as the national central city that
embodies the new concept of development. More open investment
channels are opening to the world; talent, capital, technology
and projects from all over the world are gathered in the city.
Hosted by Chengdu Tourism Bureau, Chengdu
Culture &Tourism Group, Wall Street CG Group and New Legend, New
York, the opening ceremony of
Chengdu Tourism- New York Experience Center
was officially held at 88 7the Avenue in Manhattan on December 5.
Mr. Li Liyan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese
Consulate General in New York, spoke on behalf of Chengdu and
welcomed distinguished guests and friends in New York: former
New York state governor David Paterson;
prominent philanthropist Charles Sullivan;two
time
Emmy award winner and Fox News anchor, Kelly Wright;well-known
Chinese-American journalist who serves CBS and ABC networks,
Zhang Tihua;Assistant
Speaker of the New York State Assembly Félix W. Ortiz;vice
president of the Confucius Institute of China Institute Liao
Shenzhan,;alumni
association of Sichuan and Chongqing in U.S.A, Jason Chen;Chairman
of Peking University Alumni Association in New York, Professor
Huanghe; and President of Chengdu Bar Food Group, He Chenwen,
all
attended the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting. In addition,
Danny Kadishson, director of economic development at the Mayor's
Office in New York, and the famous Chinese American Ms. Kan Yu-Sai
also sent representatives to attend along with a congratulatory
letter. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr.Jeannie Yi,Vice-Chairman
of the Chengdu People‘s Association for Friendship with Foreign
Countries and President of Wall Street CG Group.
Dr. Jeannie Yi was the
top young teacher of Peking University. In 1985, she was the
first to receive a full scholarship to study in the United
States. After working on Wall Street for many years , she
accumulated elite contacts in New York City. For years she has
tried her best to promote Sichuan and Chengdu in U.S.A. To open
a Chengdu experience center in New York, she joined the New York
overseas Chinese community and gained support from Peking
University Alumni Association in New York to invite the
celebrity in New York political, business and media field to
bless the opening of Chengdu experience center.
