Palm Beach, Fl. – “Some Enchanted Evening” was all that and
more as over 300 guests joined in the festivities at the
Breakers to benefit Alzheimer’s Community Care. South Seas
dancers, a profusion of palm trees and an inviting thatched
tikibar helped set the mood for the magical evening.
Arriving guests were warmly greeted by General Gala Chairs
Geri and Frank Morrow along with Honorary Co-Chairs Mr. Leo
Albert and Mrs. Hermede Wyman Miro. Also on hand were Honorary
Vice-Chairs General and Mrs. Alexander Haig, International
Honorary Chairs, Mrs. Marilyn Lew-Jacobs, Mrs. Sydelle Meyer,
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Robinson and Ms. Nancy Sexauer Walsh and
Chair Emeritus Eva H. Forsyth.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the success of the gala and
proud to share this achievement with our distinguished
honorary chairs and dedicated committee,” said Geri Morrow.
And, a very special thank you to our many friends and guests
for their very generous support in helping us achieve our goal
of $500,000,” added Frank Morrow.
The evening’s proceedings ran smoothly with Master of
Ceremonies Dick Robinson at the helm. Robinson introduced Mark
Shalloway, Chairman of the Board of Alzheimer’s Community Care
and Mary M. Barnes, President and CEO. Honorary Chairs were
recognized and sponsors Neiman Marcus and Hoffman’s Chocolates
thanked for the table favors and gift bags. A brief
inspirational message was delivered by State Representative
Maria Sachs.
Highlights of the evening included a silent auction with more
than 150 luxury items, entertainment by International Ballroom
Champions Babette and Warren Brown, a sumptuous dinner and
fine wine, dancing to the Michael Rose Orchestra and a raffle
drawing for exciting prizes. A spirited live auction led by
auctioneer Neil Saffer awarded a 2007 Mini Cooper Convertible,
an18K Gold and Diamond Necklace with Matching Earrings, a Week
on Martha’s
Vineyard and a Gary Player Celebrity Golf Foursome to four
successful bidders.
On behalf of Alzheimer’s Community Care, Barnes thanked
everyone for their efforts with special thanks to the Board
and staff. Barnes reminded guests that “their presence at this
celebration of ten years of Alzheimer’s Community Care
empowers the organization to provide the help and hope that
our patients and caregivers justly deserve, and for that we
are eternally grateful.” |
