The 2007 NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases Founders Gala took
place at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom on November 5,
2007. Last year, the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases (NYUHJD),
the leader in bone and joint health, celebrated the close of
its 100th anniversary year and its merger with the NYU Medical
Center . The gala was attended by 800 guests and raised over
$4 million for the Hospital’s research and growing program
initiatives.
At this year’s gala, Max Gomez was Master of Ceremonies. Robin
Smith , co-chaired the event with Anthony Viscogliosi of
Viscogliosi Brothers, LLC. He and his company were the first
to receive the NYUHJD Industry Leader Award. We honored three
outstanding community members for their dedication to the
Hospital. Michael Gardner is the Chairman and CEO of Baytree
Capital, LLC and was honored by the Mental Health Association
of New York and received the Humanitarian Award. Mr. Gardner
is the director of Bide-A-Wee, a humane resource for animals
that is responsible for over a million pet adoptions. He was
honored earlier this year at the Mental Health Association of
New York City Gala. Herbert Rubin, Esq., Chairman of the law
firm of Hertzfeld and Rubin will be receiving the Industry

awarded to Stephen Smiles, M.D., the Co-Director for the
