The Works has developed an astounding international presence, having appeared in the world’s preeminent theaters and festivals in 39 countries on four continents.  The Works recently performed to rave reviews at the Sixth Beijing International Theater & Dance Festival at the new National Center for the Performing Arts marking the first time the full company has performed its artistry for Mainland Chinese audiences.

The Works has performed in 30 states throughout the US, self-produced 21 New York City Seasons.  The company’s last two years have included performances in New York City and environs at Central Park Summerstage, Guild Hall, Union Square Park’s Summer in the Square Festival, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Fire Island Dance Festival and The United Nations. In 2007, The Joyce Theater awarded Ms. Muller a special 25@25 Initiative Commissioning Grant for the creation of BENCH, the signature premiere of The Works’ recent 35th Anniversary Season.

The Works is devoted to its arts awareness, professional training and mentoring programs.  Faces of Wonder and Imagine That! bring The Works’ artistry to deserving students in New York City public schools. The Scholarship/Apprentice Program provides valued professional training for aspiring dancers. The HATCH Presenting Series has presented over 500 new works by emerging choreographers and theater artists. These programs annually reach over 5,000 youth in the New York City schools and 50 emerging choreographers.
