The Princess Grace Foundation-USA Awards Gala, was created in
memory of the late Princess Grace of Monaco to help aspiring
artists realize their dreams of a per forming arts career.
Twyla Tharp was this years recipient of the Prince Rainier III
Award in honor of her outstanding contribution to the arts.
HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and Fashion Designer Norma
Kamali presented The Prince Rainier III Award to Twyla Tharp.
Other presenters included: Actor, singer Jesse L.Martin in the
theater category, two-time Tony winner Chita Rivera in the
dance category, Actor Anthony Michael Hall in the film
category and Ethan Stiefel presented the Statue Award. For the
second year Larry King was the Master of Ceremonies.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Princess Grace Awards, a
national grants program offering scholarships,
apprenticeships, and fellowships to emerging artists in the
performing arts.
Since 1984 the Foundation has awarded over $4 million to more
than 400 individuals nationwide in the areas of theatre,
dance, and film. |
