A
galaxy of art world luminaries, invited by
the internationally renowned Frieze Art Fair
organization, gathered at the luxurious and
distinctly modern penthouses of Soho Mews in
downtown Manhattan for cocktails and
conversation on a sparkling night in June.
Artists, gallery owners and collectors
talked of the upcoming Frieze Art Fair in
London while taking in the panoramic skyline
view of the Empire State Building from Soho
Mews. Notable guests from the world of
contemporary art who enjoyed the terrace
breezes included Tobias Meyer, worldwide
head of contemporary art at Sotheby's,
Lisa
Philips, director of The New Museum,
collector/entrepreneur Adam Lindeman,
art consultant Mark Fletcher,
artist Olafur Eliasson, creator of the New
York City Waterfalls, painter Elizabeth
Peyton, and Yvonne Force Villareal and
Doreen Remen, co-founders of the Art
Production Fund.
“We
were delighted to host Frieze’s gathering at
Soho Mews. The association between Soho and
contemporary art is indelible and was an
influence on the design of Soho Mews,” said
developer Albert Laboz of United American
Land.
“Soho
Mews provided the perfect location in New
York for Frieze and its friends to celebrate
the start of summer. Soho Mews is an
outstanding example of the synergy between
art and architecture,” said Amanda Sharp,
co-director of the Frieze Art Fair.
Frieze Art Fair is held every October in
Regent’s Park, London. It features more
than 150 of the most exciting contemporary
art galleries in the world. As well as
these exhibitors, the Fair includes
specially commissioned artists’ projects and
an ambitious talks program.
At
Soho Mews, acclaimed architects Gwathmey
Siegel & Associates have created two
magnificent, modern buildings that recall
Soho’s classic cast iron designs. Graceful
proportions imbue its 59 lofts, 5 townhouses

6,000+ SF of lush greenery - Soho’s largest
private park. Exceptional amenities include
onsite attended parking, a state-of-the art
fitness center, a public art gallery curated
by Soho’s Art Production Fund and exclusive
benefits at cantina and vintner Centovini
and iconic design products and furnishings
retailer Moss.
