On Saturday, July 26, Safe
Horizon’s Junior Council hosted
its third annual Hamptons party
to raise critically needed funds
and awareness among the next
generation of leaders. A weekend
affair, this year’s party
included four unique events.
The Council kicked off the
weekend with a welcome celebration
on
Friday, July 25th,
at local hot spot The Stephen
Talkhouse to get an early
start on the festivities.
On
Saturday, guests
joined the Council in the
Sponsors tent at the
Bridgehampton Polo Club
to watch Pony Express take on
Black Watch in week two of the
Mercedes-Benz Challenge Cup.
At the conclusion of the match,
transportation was provided to
the Beachfront Blues & BBQ
dinner, held at the estate
of Jane and Jack Rivkin in East
Hampton.
The sold out event drew over 185
supporters to celebrate the work
of Safe Horizon and the Junior
Council. While enjoying the
mellow grooves of live blues
music provided by Jesse
Franklin, guests enjoyed
cocktails provided by Bacardi,
wine & champagne provided by
Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, and
Landshark beer. The Seafood Shop
of East Hampton served a
delicious BBQ dinner.
Following the dinner, over 250
guests headed to ultra-hip club
DUNE Southampton
for the
after party, where
they danced until the early
hours.
Since its founding in the spring
of 2006, the Junior Council has
grown to include 27 individuals
who have dedicated their time
and talents to work with our
clients and raised hundreds of
thousands of dollars for Safe
Horizon’s critical services. The
Junior Council has informed and
energized young leaders in
business, philanthropy and
media, introducing over 1,000
individuals to Safe Horizon’s
cause.
In May, the Junior Council was
honored with the Champions for
Tomorrow Award at the
2008 Champion Awards Luncheon.
The award was created to honor
the leaders of the next
generation who help to carry
Safe Horizon’s mission forward.
The work of the Junior Council
exemplifies that ideal, always
reaching out in innovative and
meaningful ways to educate and
engage a wider audience.
On April 14th, the Council
hosted the kickoff event for the
Champion Awards Luncheon in
partnership with actress
Stephanie March and Calvin Klein
designer Francisco Costa. The
kickoff event, held at the
Calvin Klein Collection Store on
Madison Avenue, welcomed more
than 400 supporters, including
actors Mario Lopez & Cheyenne
Jackson and model and fashion
expert Kelly Bensimon.
The events of Beachfront
Blues & BBQ were generously
sponsored by Barefoot Wine, John
& Julie Bresnan, Continuiti
National Interim HR Staffing,
DUNE Southampton, James Held &
Kenn Karakul, Landshark Lager,
Michal & Zachary Levison, and
Marchuska.
