The Young Friends of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County welcomed more than 120 people to “Treasure Map and Nightcaps” honoring the Host Committee of the 14^th Annual Evening on Antique Row at the home of Virginia Oatley in West Palm Beach. The evening also included a reading from “The Adventures of Charlie Pierce: The American Jungle” by Historical Society Chairman and author Harvey Oyer III. The event was co-chaired by Aime Dunstan and Blair Griffin. Special “Nightcaps and Nibbles” were prepared by Palm Beach Proper Vodka, Café Boulud, Forte D’Asprinio, Belle and Maxwell’s, and Nicole’s Village Tavern and were served to guests in the home courtyard area illuminated by tiki torches. An outdoor plasma screen and state-of-the-art sound system provided by AVA Home Media Systems entertained guests with a visual presentation of prior Young Friend’s Events.

Guests were encouraged to don “sleepy time” attire and they included J. Grier Pressly III, Janet Murphy, Tracy Coffey, Lou Lou and Jamie Gordon, Carin and Derek Acree, Penny and Keith Williams, Laura Wissa, Susan Gibson, Scott Velozo, Stephen Mooney, Ross Meltzer, Jen McNeill, Tom Kirchhoff, Elizabeth Munder, Kim Honig, Kate McCoy, Zachariah Bell, Denise Mariani, and Stephen Asprinio. An eclectic arrangement of furnishings and décor within the home were provided by Pierre Anthony Antiques & Interiors in West Palm Beach.

Each year the Young Friends’ kickoff event introduces young professionals and history lovers to the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and helps to raise awareness and membership in the Young Friends’ Host Committee. The Host Committee is the sponsoring group of the 14^th Annual Evening on Antique Row, March 7^th 2009, an event in which the shop owners along Antique Row in West Palm Beach open their stores to display beautiful antiques along with refreshments for all. This festive evening culminates with the Young Friends’ “After Party” for the Host Committee and sponsors.

Funds raised from the Evening on Antique Row will be used to support the educational programs of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum.
