benefit OCRF. There many activities to keep children happy
while parents shopped; carnival games, rides, pony rides,
make-over’s by Cozy Cut’s for Kids, a Bratz Movie Stars Photo
Studio, Cupcake decorating by Crumbs Bakeshop, and ice cream
treats by Maggie Moo’s.
There were fashion items from over 200 of the most prominent
designers: Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Gucci,
Vera Wang, Theory, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss, Diane Von
Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Helmut Lang, Zac Posen, Michael
Kors to name a few.
Guests tried their hand at the Bluefly.com Arcade where
instead of playing for animals and toys they trawled for
fabulous designer shoes and accessories. Shoppers enjoyed
sipping cocktails and relaxing at the Fortunoff and Stirings
Summer Lounge, and the Schick Institution Plus Feet Treat
Tent.
Super Saturday is underwritten by Donna Karan, who created the
event ten summers ago with the late Liz Tilberis. Donna has
underwritten the event since its founding in 1998. All
proceeds raised at the event are donated to OCRF’s research
programs. Super Saturday, 2006, also hosted by Kelly Ripa,
raised over $2.4 million.
The OCRF is the leading independent, non-profit organization
in the US dedicated to advancing research, raising awareness
and finding a cure for ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer takes
the lives of over 15,000 women in the US each year, with over
20,000 new cases being diagnosed annually. There is currently
NO method of early detection, leading to late diagnosis in 75
percent of the cases. To date, OCRF has funded researchers at
40 leading cancer centers nationwide. |
