The
Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) - the nonprofit arm of the
toy industry that puts toys in the hands of children living
in poverty, suffering from chronic illness, and living in
other stressful situations, applauds the generosity of
leading toymaker
JAKKS Pacific, Inc. LA-based JAKKS has donated more
than a million dollars in toys and school supplies to the
TIF over the past year. Most recently, JAKKS donated 12,000
toys "valued at close to $125,000" and had more than a dozen
JAKKS employees volunteer at an industry-wide event where
the nation's largest toy companies banded together to
support National Foster Care Month.
JAKKS has been a long time supporter of the Toy Industry
Foundation, having donated more than $5 million to TIF's
signature program,
The Toy Bank over the past several years. The company's
most recent contribution supported a TIF partnership with
the My Stuff Bags Foundation to commemorate May as National
Foster Care Month. The donated products were a vital
component of TIF's second annual
Do Good Stuff-A-Thon" held in Westlake
Village, California, on May 7th.
Organizations such as California's
Bienvenidos
received some of the 5,000 duffel
bags that were stuffed with toys, toiletries, handmade
blankets and other items; duffels will be distributed to
agencies across the United States that rescue abused and
neglected children.
" We
at Bienvenidos are most grateful to the Toy Industry
Foundation and My Stuff Bags, as well as companies like
JAKKS Pacific, who make all of our work possible through
donations," said Ritchie Geisel, Bienvenidos President &
CEO. "Our kids typically arrive at their foster home with
their meager belongings in a plastic bag. Through the
duffel bags that the children receive, stuffed with teddy
bears, toys, and more, they begin to feel a sense of
security, and often for the first time, they realize that
someone really cares about them."
Longtime JAKKS Malibu employee Katie Credle, who was a JAKKS
Cares volunteer at the "Do Good Stuff-A-Thon" and filled
bags for baby girls with toiletries, diapers and soft toys,
said "This event really makes you think about the end
result" about this exact bag getting to a little kid, and
hoping that when they open it up and see all the goodies,
that it makes their day and their life a little bit better.
That is why we all do what we do - it's all for the kids.?
" Toys
allow kids to be kids," said Jean
Butler, executive director of the Toy
Industry Foundation. "With generous support from companies
like JAKKS Pacific, the TIF and its partners are able to
bring the 'tools of play' to children in need. We are
extraordinarily grateful for their support."

About the Toy Industry Foundation
(
www.toyindustryfoundation.org
)
While other organizations provide food, shelter
and support services to children and their families, the Toy
Industry Foundation sees to it that these children have toys
and opportunities to play in an attempt to restore both fun
and a sense of normalcy to their lives. The Foundation
currently fulfills its mission through core programs
including The Toy Bank?, public education initiatives, and
grants to organizations whose missions are in line with that
of the Toy Industry Foundation.
The first industry-wide program of its kind, The Toy Bank
receives donations of newly manufactured toys from members
of the toy industry and distributes them through local
charities to underserved, at-risk and homeless children
throughout the
United States
and around the world. The Toy Bank is administered by Gifts
in Kind International.
