Family, Friends and the Love of Lorraine, brought everyone out to celebrate and toast Lorraine Cancro in grand style at New York City’s hotspot Trattoria Dell’Arte Saturday night, March 5th. The packed room of well-wishers lauded her life and work over bubbly prosecco and delectable cuisine from the restaurant’s awesome antipasto bar. Guests included authors, producers, professors, psychiatrists, veterans, and the dynamic duo of TV star Rita Cosby and composer / filmmaker

Lorraine is a driving force at Dr. Robert Cancro’s International Committee Against Mental Illness, ICAMI’s Global Stress Disorders Initiative, which was recently launched out of Woodhull Medical Center in New York. As a  psychotherapist specializing in Post traumatic stress among returning veterans and civilians alike, she launched an ongoing series on traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress among returned veterans in Exceptional Parent, a 40 year old award winning disability magazine. Rita Cosby is ICAMI’s spokesperson for all research and treatment initiatives related to PTSD.

Everyone around the room commended Lorraine and her constant efforts to help those in need. Rita Cosby said, “Lorraine represents a true beacon of light and hope to so many (people), and a great example of a caring person making a tremendous difference.” Happy Birthday Lorraine!!!!
