celebrate
the
screening
of Robin
Melanie
Leacock’s
documentary “A
Passion For
Giving” Saturday
in
Southampton.
Jean
Shafiroff
spoke about
the great
benefits of
giving, her
life and
the
importance
of teaching
future
generations
to become
philanthropists.
Animal
activist and
actress Missy
Hargraves took
the stage to
introduce
the PBS film
in which she
is featured
along with Henry
Buhl, Donna
Karan, Count
Alexandre de
Lesseps,
Carolina
Herrera,
MTV founder John
Sykes,
and RUN
DMC’s Darryl
McDaniels with
cameos by Dan
Ackroyd,
Richard
Branson,
Roger
Waters, Fran
Liebowitz, and President
Bill
Clinton.
Candace
Bushnell, along
with “The
Grandfather
of Venture
Capitalism, Alan
Patricof,
legendary
concert
promoter Ron
Delsener,
and G.E.
Smith of SNL fame
showed up.
Jean made an
appearance
at a private
dinner
hosted by
Buhl
attended by LuAnn
de Lesseps,
and Pamela
O’Connor;
then joined
other
movie-goers
that dined
at the all
new Union
Sushi &
Steak a
modern take
on the
steakhouses
of old; who
donated a
portion of
proceeds to The
Southampton
Animal
Shelter.
The sold-out
socially-distanced
event,
touted by
Vanity Fair
as “honest,
heartfelt,
and
inspirational,”
launches a
nation-wide
tour of the
film about
philanthropy.

Shafiroff
Jean
Shafiroff is
renowned for
her
charitable
giving and
commitment
to
philanthropy.
She chairs
numerous
galas and
hosts many
events
benefiting
several
not-for-profit
organizations
each year
and is the
author of Successful
Philanthropy:
How to Make
a Life by
What You
Give,
a book which
serves as a
practical
guide for
both the
aspiring and
seasoned
philanthropist.
She serves
on the
boards of
six
charitable
organizations,
including
the New York
City Mission
Society,
Southampton
Hospital
Association,
French
Heritage
Society,
Couture
Council
(Museum of
the Fashion
Institute of
Technology),
Southampton
Animal
Shelter
Foundation
Honorary
Board, and
Global
Strays. She
is an
Honorary Trustee
of the
Jewish Board
and served
on their
board for 28
years. She
is also an
ambassador
for the
American Humane Society
and is
their
national
spokesperson
for their
Feed the
Hungry
Covid-19
Program.
She serves
as the
Ambassador-at-large
for the
Southampton
Animal
Shelter. In
addition,
Jean is a
New York
Women's
Foundation
Board Alumna
who remains
very active
with the
Foundation
and women's
issues. A
volunteer
fundraiser,
leader, and
spokesperson
for several
charitable
causes, Jean
Shafiroff’s
philanthropic
work
includes
improving
the lives of
underserved
populations,
animal
rights,
women’s
rights and
well-being,
and health
care. Jean
has been
honored for
her
philanthropic
work
countless
times. Some
of the

honored her
include the
Stony Brook
Southampton
Hospital,
American
Heart
Association,
American
Cancer
Society ,
NYC Mission
Society, NYC
Mission
Society ,
Surgeons of
Hope , the
Hadassah
