Nothing says
summer in
the Hamptons
like
Landscape
Pleasures!
For more
than
twenty-six
years, the
Parrish has
presented
this most
compelling
and
enjoyable
weekend,
combining a
Saturday of
stimulating
talks on
such diverse
topics as
color in the
garden,
sustainability,
and
fragrance
followed by
a self
guided tour
of many of
the
neighborhood’s
finest and
most
beautiful
private
gardens.
This year’s
co-chairs
Lillian
Cohen, Perry
Guillot,
and
Martha
McLanahan
organized an
exceptional
program.
The program
kicked off
with a
Saturday
morning
symposium
featuring
talks by
writer,
landscape
designer,
and gardener
Barbara
Damrosch;
renowned
artist
April Gornik;
and writer
and editor
Dominique
Browning.
Alex
Kuczynski
and her
husband
Charles
Stevenson,
Jr.
hosted a
private
cocktail
reception
for
benefactors,
patrons and
sponsors at
their
historic
sprawling
Southampton
Village home
and lake
side
gardens.
On Sunday,
five of the
area’s
finest
private
gardens were
open to
participants
for
self-guided
tours. The
garden tour
featured the
lush
landscapes
at the homes
of
Lillian
and Joel
Cohen,
Audrey
and
Martin Gruss,
Martha
McLanahan,
Liz
and Damon
Mezzacappa,
and
Hilary and
Wilbur Ross,
It was a
once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity
to see and
experience a
wonderful
selection of
private
gardens that
showcases
the
magnificent
breadth of
the
landscape of
the East
End. |
