Jean Shafiroff and
Sequin, (Southampton location), a fashion jewelry store
founded by sisters Kim and Linda Renk, hosted a packed,
kick-off event, along with store manager, Cheryl Dovenberg,
Saturday, July 14th, for the July 21st Southampton Animal
Shelter Foundation's 3rd Annual UNCONDITIONAL LOVE benefit.
The event, which will honor Ellen & Chuck, (NBC 4, News
Anchor), Scarborough will be chaired by Jean Shafiroff and
held at the home of Sandra McConnell, in Southampton. Those
in attendance at the pre-party included Martin Shafiroff,
Lucia Hwong Gordon, Patrick McMullan, Georgina Schaeffer,
and Marsha Schaeffer, amongst so many others. Representing
the Shelter were, Susan Allen, the Shelter's founder and
"ANGEL", Board President, Jonathan McCann, Board Executive
V.P. and former co-founder of ARF, Sony Schotland and Board
member, Joel Cooper, all of whom will also serve as
Vice-Chairmen for the Unconditional Love benefit. Sharon
Kerr, a Vice-Chair for the benefit, NancyJane Loewy, auction
chair and, Raya Keis Knight, gift bag chair, and her
husband, Cliff Knight, were seen, as well .
The Saturday, July
21st event promises to be one of the most exciting and
elegant benefits on the 2012 Summer Charity Circuit. With
Allen & Company and Barclays serving as Honorary Corporate
Chairs, the event will begin with cocktails at 7:00 p.m.,
followed by a sit-down dinner catered by Robbins/Wolfe
Eventeurs. The renowned Alex Donner Orchestra will provide
the music, which will promise to keep the dance floor, elbow
to elbow all evening. An anonymous donor generously
underwrote the entertainment. In addition, ASID, ( American
Society of Interior Designers, NY Metro Chapter), will
present a one-of-a-kind dog bed auction, created especially
for the shelter and their Unconditional Love event. A
special judging was held on Wednesday, July 11th at the New
York School of Interior Design, where ASID hosted their
“Summer Social with a Bite” cocktail event, 6 – 9:00 p.m.
Judges were Prince Lorenzo Borghese, (formerly on The
Bachelor), Celebrity Socialite, Tinsley Mortimer, Gregg
Oehler, PR guru and publisher of Cesar’s Way, Nicole Haddad,
Design Editor, New York Spaces and Anna Lombardi, Social
Media Editor, Luxe Magazine.
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is ranked among
the top ten shelters in the country. In addition to
providing adoption services, the shelter offers a low-cost
spay/neuter clinic. The Training and Behavior Department,
evaluates each dog and develops individually tailored
training, based upon a dog's needs. Dog obedience classes,
as well as dog play groups, are offered to the public.
This past June 9th, the organization was bestowed with the
honor of "2012SHELTER of the YEAR" at Petfest's
Pet Hero Awards Ceremony.
