Southampton
Hospital's
54th Summer
Party
Grand
Prix Monaco

With vintage
Formula 1
racing cars
lined up at
the entrance
and a Hotel
de Paris
decor theme
carried off
inside the
tent, the
54th
Southampton
Hospital
Summer Party
happily
embraced the
evening's
theme of
Grand
Prix Monaco.
The
brainchild
of
Chairwoman
Laura
Lofaro
Freeman
whose
husband race
car driver
Jim
Freeman is a Daytona
500 winner,
the evening
was a
wonderful
salute to
the exotic
races of
years past.
The annual
party is one
of the few
affairs for
which the
ladies don
long
designer
evening
gowns and
open the
vaults to
sport their
favorite
diamonds,
rubies,
sapphires
and emeralds
and the
gents always
wear jackets
AND ties. It
is truly one
of the last
vestiges of
the elegance
that has
been long
associated
with
Southampton.
The hour &
half
cocktail
party
preceding
dinner and
dancing
gives all
the ladies &
their
escorts -
and swarms
of
photographers
- ample
opportunities
for photos
on the lawn
before
ducking into
the mammoth
tent erected
on
Wickapogue.
Legendary
New York
Times
fashion
photographer
Bill
Cunningham
in his
trademark
French
workers
smock was on
hand as
always to
chronicle
the folks,
as he has
done for
some 40
years. And
this year he
had plenty
of eye-candy
for his
society
page.
Leading the
vibrantly
colored
fashion
parade were
chairwoman
Laura
Lofaro
Freeman
in a
stunning
strapless
blue satin
gown that
matched her
cornflower
blue eyes;
Jean
Shafiroff
in an
elegant
shoulder-baring
floral
be-decked
white Oscar
de la Renta
gown with
trailing
skirt;
Sara Herbert
Galloway
in vibrant
blue silk;

Cheri

in a red

Katherine
Andreassen
in slinky
purple and
diamonds;
Cassandra
Seidenfeld
in ruffled
gold, Joy
Marks in
a plunging
fuchsia
cocktail
gown;
Gillian
Miniter
in ruffled
violet satin
and
Melanie
Wambold
in an off
the shoulder
linen & lace
gown.
On hand to
greet the
guests were
Southampton
President &
CEO Bob
Chaloner
and
Southampton
Hospital
Foundation

As
Graff
was the
Honorary
Jewelry
Chair their
were a dozen
gorgeous
models
wearing
fabulous
Graff
jewels, as
they slinked
around the
room posing
provocatively.
Following
cocktails
and some
very heavy
bidding on
the
extraordinary
silent
auction,
guests
poured into
the main
tent where
Alex
Donner &
his
Orchestra
were already
filling the
dance floor
with their
catchy
rhythms.
Chuck
Scarborough
once again
the
evening's
emcee told
the
glittering
crowd The
Hospital is
healthier
than ever,
thanks to
the efforts
of President
and CEO,
Robert
Chaloner
and his team.
Scarborough
called him
"The
Michael
Phelps
of hospital
administrators,"
to which he
humbly
responded,
"He’s
younger and
has more
hair."
Everyone
then settled
in for an
elegant
dinner
created by
Robbins
Wolfe
Eventeurs
in a
gorgeously
decorated
tent by
Scalamandre
head
Steven
Stolman.
The event
benefited
the
Hospital’s
Jenny and
John Paulson
Emergency
Department.
Sponsorship
support for
Grand Prix

Included
Prudential
Douglas
Elliman Real
Estate,
honorary
real estate
chair and
Graff

“The funds
raised in
support of
the Jenny
and John
Paulson
Emergency
Department
are critical
to a
facility
that
provides
emergency
care to more
than 25,000
emergency
patients
annually.
Our Summer
Party Chair,
Laura Lofaro
Freeman, and
her
dedicated
committee
promise that
the evening
will be a
spectacular
success,”
said
Southampton
Hospital
President
and CEO
Robert
Chaloner.
