Southampton,
N.Y. - Joey
Wölffer,
Donna Karan,
Gabby de
Felice, Jean
Shafiroff,
Jim and
Hollis
Forbes
(Southampton
Hospital
Association
Trustee) and
over 400
other guests
helped the
Southampton
Hospital
Foundation
raise over
$750,000 for
the Stony
Brook
Southampton
Hospital (SBSH)
while
observing
COVID-19
health and
safety
guidelines,
thanks to
multiple
micro-galas
held all
over the
East End on
Saturday,
August 1,
2020.
All the mini
events were
linked
together
through a
virtual
toast hosted
by Robert S.
Chaloner,
Chief
Administrative
Officer for
SBSH and
award-winning
actor, Liev
Schrieber.
Commenting
Chaloner,
SBSH says,
“Our Summer
Party is one
of the key
celebrations
of the
Hamptons
social scene
which takes
11 months to
plan. I’m
delighted
our team was
able to
create a
completely
new event,
in a matter
of a few
weeks, amid
the Covid
crisis.
With all the
significant
Covid
expenses, we
need these
funds more
than ever to
support our
24/7 x 365
days a year
Jenny & John
Paulson
Emergency
Department
and build
our East
Hampton
Satellite
Emergency
Department.
Raising
funds to
help with
on-going
supplies of
technology,
equipment,
increased
testing and
human
resources to
continue to
fight
Covid-19 is
also of
paramount
importance.
Once again,
this
incredible
community
came
together to
support us
in our
mission to
provide
world-class
healthcare.”
Mirella
Cameran-Reilly,
Director of
Brand
Experience
and Events
at the
Southampton
Hospital
Foundation,
adds, “We
couldn’t ask
for a better
group of
supporters.
Everyone was
committed to
continuing
to support
SBSH as well
as all the
local
businesses
we worked
with to put
on this
year’s
event. All
our table
hosts dived
into hosting
micro-galas
at home and
they and
their guests
had a lot of
fun doing
so.”
Hollis
Forbes, SBSH
donor and
Summer Party
host says,
“The idea
was
brilliant
and
brilliantly
executed. It
was
wonderful to
receive
deliveries
during the
day and
evening from
all these
local
businesses
we were able
to support
through this
concept.
There’s
never been a
more
important
time than
now to
support the
hospital and
its new
facilities.”
The SBSH
Summer Party
is hosted by
the
Southampton
Hospital
Foundation
and is
usually
located on
hospital
grounds on
Wickapogue
Road in
Southampton.
Attendees
have topped
1,000 people
in previous
years and
all guests
enjoy
cocktails,
dinner and
dancing, and
an auction
at the
annual
event.
Cameran-Reilly
continues,
“The usual
scale of the
event
necessitates
us using
vendors from
out of our
local area.
This year,
the
logistics of
the
micro-galas
enabled us
to work with
many smaller
companies,
all of which
are based
out here on
the East
End. The
support the
hospital
received
during the
height of
the pandemic
was
breath-taking.
Companies
and
individuals
were
donating to
the hospital
in whatever
capacity
they could,
in order to
support the
fight
against the
pandemic.
The
restructuring
of the
Summer Party
gave us an
opportunity
for us to
put our
event
expenditure
back into
the local
community.”
This year,
due to
Covid-19,
the oldest
and longest
running
Hamptons
fundraiser,
the SBSH
Annual
Summer
Party,
reinvented
itself to
enable
donors to
enjoy the
annual event
while
adhering to
social
distancing
guidelines.
Patrons were
encouraged
to host up
to 10 people
in their
homes, while
adopting all
health and
safety
guidelines.
SBSH worked
with local
caterer
Janet
O’Brien and
local
companies
such as
Amagansett
Sea Salt and
Southampton
Soap Company
to deliver a
handmade
wooden party
box (created
by Kim Jon
Designs) to
all table
hosts. Party
boxes were
filled to
the brim
with
delicious
hors
d’oeuvres,
sweets, and
host gifts.
Wölffer
Estate
Vineyard, as
title
sponsor,
provided
delicious
red, white,
and rose’
wines and
tequilas
from
Mountaukila
were
accompanied
by spicy
Margarita
mix.
Bloomberg
Philanthropies
and Jenny
and John
Paulson were
Chairman’s
Sponsors.
SBSH worked
with Tutto
Il Giorno’s
Southampton
and Sag
Harbor
restaurants,
Calissa,
Stone Creek
Inn and 75
Main to
deliver
nearly 400
meals to
table hosts
from
Westhampton
to East
Hampton. Sag
Harbor
Florists,
Kim Jon
Designs and
Anchor &
Bloom
Florists
delivered
floral
bouquets to
decorate the
tables.
Hosts and
their guests
joined the
‘7 Minutes
at 7pm’
virtual
toast to
celebrate
the night’s
honorees,
the
Healthcare
Heroes of
SBSH and
watch a
video which
recapped the
hospital’s
experience
of COVID-19
through the
eyes of the
frontline
workers.
