"Spring in
the Wild"
This
organization
was founded
by Virginia
Frati,
Executive
Director,
over 10
years ago
and with her
Co-Director
Jim Hunter.
It has grown
into a
building in
Hampton
Bay. They
rescue and
care for
hundreds of
wildlife
creatures
living on
the East End
of Long
Island -
from
Riverhead to
both Orient
Point and
Montauk
Point.
Two years
ago Leslie
Alexander,
philanthropist,
donated a
generous
gift to the
Rescue
Center which
is now named
for his
mother
Evelyn
Alexander.
It is now
named the
Evelyn
Alexander
Wildlife
Rescue
Center.
Leslie and
his friend
Liz Brown
have given
elegant
summer
benefit
parties at
his
Southampton
Atlantic
Ocean
estate.
Not only
does this
organization
travel to
both forks
and bring
home to the
center
injured and
orphaned
creatures
but even
some that
have been
injured by
cruel
attackers -
last year a
turtle and a
swan.
The Spring
is a very
busy time.
There are
more newborn
in Spring and more automobile traffic begins with
more
accidents.
The event on
Saturday,
5/5/12, had
over 130
guests who
participated
in the
Chinese
Auction and
got to meet
some of the
rescue
center's
creatures.
Live music
was provided
by "Jetty
Four", a
young four
piece band.
Long Island
composer and
singer, Kris
Ambrose, has
composed a
creature
inspired
song, "Wild
Life" which
can be heard
in iTunes
and he has
just created
a musical
video using
photos of
many of the
helped
rescue
center
animals. It
can be
viewed by

"A light
exists in
Spring not
present in
the year at
any other
period when
March is
scarsely
here...
Then as
horizons
stop or
noons report
away without
formula of
sound, it
passes and
we stay -"

Dickinson
