“Summer
in Little
Italy,” the
annual
summer-long
weekend
festival on
the Mulberry
Street
Pedestrian
Mall in
Little
Italy, will
kick-off the
Labor Day
Weekend on
Saturday,
September 4,
at 2:30 PM
with a
series of
free events,
including a
Signature
Pizza
Contest,
Pizza
Throwing &
Cheese
Making
Demonstrations,
and an
outdoor
concert by
gifted tenor
Jimmy
Alleva.
All of the
activities
will take
place in
front of
DaNico’s
Restaurant,
164 Mulberry
Street
(between
Grand and
Broome
Streets).
The
Signature
Pizza
Contest,
to decide
which Little
Italy
restaurant
or café
serves “the
most
outstanding
Pizza,” will
be judged by
James
Tramondo,
star of the
hit TV show
“Who’s
Wedding Is
It Anyway?,”
and Jodie
and Diane
Fanelli,
the New York
born
identical
twins who
have
achieved
fame as
celebrity
spokesmodels.
Bobby
Alleva,
owner of
Little
Italy’s
popular
Alleva Dairy
near the
corner of
Mulberry and
Grand
Streets,
will
demonstrate
the art of
making fresh
mozzarella
cheese which
will be
served to
members of
the public
with bread
samples and
Bertolli
Olive Oil.
Throughout
the
afternoon,
field teams
will be in
Little Italy
distributing
free packets
of
Bertolli
Olive Oil.
Jimmy
Alleva
(no relation
to Bobby), a
handsome
Italian-American
tenor and
recording
artist with
a voice and
style
similar to
the
distinguished
voices of
Andrea
Bocelli and
the late
Mario Lanza,
is one of
the most
popular
concert
artists
performing
on the east
coast. He is
a regular
guest on the
popular
radio show
“La Dolce
Vita,” which
broadcasts
throughout
the New
England area
every Sunday
morning over
WTCC 90,7FM
in
Springfield,
MA. He is
also
featured
regularly on
the Uncle
Floyd Show
every Sunday
morning on
WRTN 93.5FM,
broadcast
out of New
Rochelle,
NY. He
performs in
concert
throughout
the
tri-state
area.
James Tramondo,
a successful
event
planner and
host of the
hit TV show
“Who’s
Wedding Is
It Anyway?,
began his
career in
the fashion
industry and
since taking
a career
change to
event
planning
seven years
ago, he has
planned over
200
weddings,
including
destination
nuptials
throughout
the United
States and
abroad. He
has been
featured in
a wedding
advice
column in
Metro
Newspaper,
and has been
featured on
Long Island
News 12 and
TV’s
“Married
Away.”
Identical
twins Jodie
and Diane
Fanelli,
both
graduates of
St. John’s
University,
began
modeling at
age 15 and
have since
worked for a
wide range
of clients,
including
Donald Trump
as spokes
persons at
his events
for Trump
Magazine
and
“Apprentice.”
They have
made
appearances
on such TV
shows as
“The View,”
“The Today
Show” and
“Rachel
Ray,” where
they have
modeled in
multiple
fashion
segments.
They have
hosted such
televised
events as
“The Bikini
Bowling
Team,” where
they
narrated and
interviewed
20 beautiful
girls as
they
traveled
from Reno to
Las Vegas
for a
celebrity
bowling
tournament.
They have
also been
guests on
various TV
series,
including
“Gossip
Girl.” They
have been
hired as
showroom
models for
some of
today’s top
bikini
designers,
and won
First Place
and the
title of
“The Most
Beautiful
Twins,” in
“The Body
Doubles
Competition,”
competing
against more
than 40 sets
of twins
from all
over the
East coast.
