I attended the opening night party for Blues
For An Alabama Sky, by Pearl Cleage,
a production of the Keen Company, at the
Lounge of Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd St. I
photographed the five member cast, including
the two leading actresses, Jasminn
Johnson and Alfie Fuller ( photo
below). Among the guests were Maryann
Plunkett, Kate Baldwin and Phylicia
Rashad ( photo below). It was a
pleasant party.A dozen medieval manuscripts
tell the story, with a modern manuscript by
artist Barbara Wolff, gifted to the
library in 2018 by
Joanna S. Rose.
The Morgan Library & Museum, 225 Madison
Avenue, presented two exhibitions at a press
preview. The first was probably one of the
finest exhibitions ever presented at the
magnificent Morgan Library & Museum, The
Book of Ruth: Medieval to Modern, February
14-June 14, 2020. This beautiful exhibit
shows a scroll presented in accordian style
in Hebrew, and on the reverse side of the
page in English.

The illuminated manuscripts tell the biblical story
of Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi. It is
impressive. The second exhibition is The Drawings
of Al Taylor: February 21-May 24, 2020. Taylor (1948-1999)
was a sculptor and draftsman, and had a whimsical
sense of humor. He produced funny drawings,
beginning with his cat walking on paper to produce
Art. In his short life, he created delightful works
of art. Do not miss these exhibitions. You will be
rewarded.
Columbus Library presented Once Upon a Time in
Hollywood, by Quentin Tarantino, USA,
2019, a typical overlong Tarantino film with vulgar
language and violence. Brad Pitt as a
television stuntman won an Oscar for his
performance, so for that reason, I spent 161 minutes
of my remaining time on earth, watching this film,
which I do not recommend to serious filmgoers.
