Leaders in treatment and prevention of PTSD and other stress disorders gathered at New York's Trattoria dell' Arte to celebrate Lorraine Cancro's birthday. The esteemed psychotherapist and Director of the International Committee Against Mental Illness' Global Stress Initiative (GSI) focuses on research and treatment for veterans and civilians impacted by PTSD.
Lorraine's family and friends celebrated with incredible champagne, sumptuous food and music. Guests included scientific members and friends of GSI such as Medical Director, Robert Cancro, MD, Judith Kuriansky, PhD,
"Dr. Judy", Ralph De Palo, PhD, Kevin McGovern, Chairman of The Water Initiative, Bob Roth, Director of the David Lynch Foundation, professors, opera singers, actors and even TV host and author, Rita Cosby who was named ICAMI's ""spokeswoman" in 2010 lending her "voice" to GSI's programs and projects while touring the nation with her best selling book, "Quiet Hero". Rita and her composer/filmmaker beau, Tomaczek Bednarek, hosted the special birthday bash calling Lorraine "a real force in the fight to prevent and treat those who suffer from PTSD and other stress disorders". The GSI is partnering with organizations like the David Lynch Foundation to promote transcendental meditation as a technique for the alleviation of stress. An incredible night was had by all.
