The New York
Observer
Newspaper
launched
their new
monthly
magazine,
NYO
Magazine.
It is slick
and elegant
and truly
luxurious.
Bravos to
Piers Parlet
(Creative
Director),
Rachel
Morgan
(Senior
Editor),
Ivylise
Simones
(Creative
Director),
Robyn Weiss
(Publisher)
and of
course,
Jared
Kushner
(Publisher -
Observer
Media
Group).
The launch
party was
held at the
Aldyn, a
luxury
complex by
the Extell
Development
Comp., and
is on
Riverside
Boulevard in
the W.60's
overlooking
the Hudson
River.
It has more
than 40,000
sq. feet of
amenities
including
La Palestra, an
uber
athletes
club and Spa
that
features a
75 ft.
indoor pool,
a rock
climbing
wall, a
basketball
court,
a
squash
court, a
bowling
alley and a
state of the
art gym.
This March
2011 premier
issue has
Benjamin Millepied,
the N.Y.C.
Ballet
choreography
director, on
the cover.
He trained
and
choreographed
Natalie
Portman in
her Academy
Award
winning
"Best
Actress"
role in the
"Black
Swan". They
are engaged
and are
expecting a
child this
year.
The party
was well
attended by
the top of
the N.Y.C.
corporate
community
with NY
Observer
publisher,
Jared
Kushner and
Ivanka Trump
in
attendance.
Guests
included
Albert
Maysles*,
the
legendary
documentary
film maker
of such
classics as
the Beatles
in '64, the
Rolling
Stones in
'69 and
"Grey
Gardens" in
'76,
Patricia
Watt,
theater
producer on
Broadway and
London and
producer of
the annual
Astaire
Awards**
in N.Y.C.
which honors
the best
dance and
choreography
on Broadway
and Film.
There will
be a private
nomination
announcement
reception
Thursday,
April 26th
at the
sumptuous
Firebird
Restaurant
on
Restaurant
Row (it is
one of
Natalie
Portman's
favorite
restaurants),
followed
with The
Astaire
Awards Gala
on Sunday,
May 15 at
N.Y.C.'s
Skirball
Center for
the
Performing
Arts.
