The Cristian Rivera Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2009 to raise awareness of rare pediatric brain stem tumor DIPG and raise money that will fund promising research and clinical trials into its cure. DIPG affects 200-300 children between the ages of 1 and 9 in the U.S. each year and, with a median survival rate of only three to 18 months, the disease has no known survivors.
To date, the Cristian Rivera Foundation has donated more than $300,000 to the work of Dr. Oren Becher of Duke University and Dr. Mark Souweidane of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College, whose groundbreaking clinical trial has been directly funded by donations from the Cristian Rivera Foundation.
