FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (November 16, 2012) –
Featuring sensational mega-yachts, a spectacular fireworks
display, and Huey Lewis & The News headlining the Saturday Night
Gala, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County’s 25th Annual
ShowBoats International Rendezvous was the biggest and best
event yet with the most guests and yachts in attendance to date.
The event, which took place November 8-10, 2012 at the beautiful
Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas, benefited the Boys &
Girls Clubs of Broward County.
The three-day weekend of festivities kicked off with the
Thursday night “Dine Around the Docks” Yacht Hop. The largest
gathering of mega-yachts for charity in the world, guests
dressed in nautical chic attire were treated to ‘the good life’
as yacht owners and captains did their best to out-do one
another and impress their newly boarded guests. Rounding out the
evening was a traditional yacht christening of Linda and Douglas
Von Allmen’s 187’ Trinity M/Y Lady Linda and a tremendous
fireworks display presented by Sparktacular, while guests toured
the yachts and enjoyed cocktails, fine wine, gourmet food and
entertainment for a night
to remember.
Continuing with the fun, Friday, November 9 featured a fishing
tournament followed by an array of activities including a slot
tournament and gambling lessons. The day’s festivities concluded
with a poolside party featuring dinner, cocktails, and live
entertainment by Caliente and The Village People. Saturday,
November 10 featured a beach Bahamian style BBQ, games and
activities. The action-packed weekend concluded with a cocktail
party and White Gala featuring an exciting live auction, gourmet
dinner, and special entertainment by Huey Lewis & The News.
“This year was already set up to be a tremendous success, with
the celebration of our milestone 25th anniversary at an exciting
new location, and the leadership of Mike Busacca,” said Rick
Case, Founder of the Annual ShowBoats International Yachting
Rendezvous. “I’m proud to say that this was our largest and most
successful event ever, which is produced by volunteers with no
paid producers, promoters or staff. Now we are on to finalizing
the planning of our next big event for the children – the
seventh annual Boca Raton Concours d’ Elegance.”
The seventh annual BGCBC Boca Raton Concours d’ Elegance
presented by Mercedes-Benz USA and AutoNation will be held
February 22-24, 2013 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. All
proceeds from the three-day weekend of festivities benefit the
Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Friday, February 22 will
feature the duPont Registry Live! Hangar Party at the Boca Raton
Airport; Saturday, February 23 is the black-tie optional gala
featuring a live auction like no other and a stellar performance
by legendary comedic icon Bob Newhart; and Sunday, February 24
