(WEST PALM BEACH) – Over 350
business professionals recently filled the Kravis Center for
Easter Seals’ Get Down to Business Lunch where they heard
author and world-renowned performance psychologist, Dr. Jim
Loehr, speak about his book, The Power of Story and
his work as the Co-Founder of the Human Performance
Institute. Organizers were thrilled that this event was a
sold-out success for the fourth year in a row.
Loehr offered the audience a condensed
version of his Corporate Athlete Training program and
stressed the development of energy management. The evening
prior to the luncheon, Loehr spoke to an intimate group of
event sponsors at the VIP Reception, where he discussed his
book The Power of Story and how to apply the principles to
increase engagement and productivity in business.
“We had tremendous support again this year
thanks to the leadership of Paul Leone, Bill Perry and Neil
Merin,” said said Marlo Massey, vice president of
development for Easter Seals Florida. “We believe this
event is so well received because there is a need in our
business community for a worthwhile and inspiring training
and networking event that can offer concrete professional
development to all of us. We are grateful to Dr. Loehr and
to all who contributed to the success of this event.”
Along with Leone of The Breakers
Palm Beach, Perry of Gunster, and Merin of NAI Merin Hunter
Codman, junior chairs Amy Allen, South Florida Business
Journal, and Monte Resnick, Neuberger Berman and Leadership
Palm Beach County helped make this event another success.
While Loehr was well received by guests, it
was Easter Seals Ambassador Axel Gonzalez who stole the
spotlight and shared his challenging story of being a father
with a special needs child. His two year old daughter, Ivana,
lives with a rare disorder called Apert Syndrome and is a
student at Easter Seals.
“We were all moved by Axel Gonzalez’s story”,
said Bill Perry of Gunster. “Alex connected with the
audience since his life story about trying to start a family
while pursuing a professional career, is common thread that
we all share. However, what resonated the most was how their
family life was changed by the birth of his daughter, Ivana,
and the sacrifices they have made in order to get her the
best possible care. We were also moved by the important role
that Easter Seals has played in Ivana’s and the Gonzalez’s
lives.”
