(PALM BEACH, Fla.) –Studio 54 legend and disco queen Gloria Gaynor will highlight concert entertainment at the Sixth Annual Caron Renaissance Gala on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. Gala proceeds will benefit the Lifesaver Scholarship Fund at Caron Renaissance.
Capturing the essence of the iconic New York disco scene, this year’s Gala will feature the famed 70s club-styled elegance with a poolside reception, followed by Gaynor’s concert performance in the Grand Ballroom and dessert and dancing to end the night. Known for her greatest hit “I Will Survive,” Gaynor will be available to meet guests during a special VIP reception.
“We are so excited to have Gloria Gaynor in concert for this year’s Gala,” said Levin. “Last year's concert format was so much fun, and we successfully raised more than $1 million for Caron's Lifesaver Scholarship Fund. The Lifesaver Scholarship Fund at Caron Renaissance provides financial assistance to families who might not otherwise be able to afford treatment at the renowned facility.”
Gaynor signed her first record contract at age 19. In 1973, she made history as Billboard gave birth to the Disco Action Charts. She gave a live concert along with other disco stars at the reopening of Studio 54 in 1994. Gaynor, along with her hit song "I Will Survive," was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame during a ceremony in New York City on September 19, 2005.
