THE H.O.P.E.
FOUNDATION INAUGURAL
WINE TASTING EVENT
RAISED FUNDS FOR THE COACH FRANK D.B. DICOCCO MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP
Kathy and Lou
DiCocco welcomed over 100 guests to The H.O.P.E.
Foundation’s Inaugural Wine Tasting Benefit at the St.
Patrick’s Parish Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
on Thursday evening,
March 6, 2014.
Long time
friends and supporters, including Jack Daniels, the Head
Coach at The William T. Dwyer School, and the evening’s
Master of Ceremonies Joe Greco, joined the couple.
Guests including Wine Enthusiast's "American Wine
Legend" Hubert Opici, Maureen Donnarumma of the
Waterbury Republican newspaper, Palm Beachers Wayne and
Victoria Arute enjoyed lavish hors d’oeuvres while
sampling the 35 white and red wines chosen for the
evening by noted sommelier, Virginia Philip of Virginia
Philip Wine Shop Academy. Live violin music was
provided by North Palm Beach high school student Keeth
Smith, who serenaded the guests as they wined and dined.
Guests bid on
auction items, which included everything from a Samsung
flat screen television to Paul Anka concert tickets to
NY Mets game seats. Palm Beach artist Yelitza Karolyi ,
who had donated one of her beautiful paintings,
personally presented her work to the winning bidder. The
first annual wine tasting event raised funds for Coach
Frank D.B. DiCocco Memorial Scholarships.
In addition to
the auction and raffle items, copies of the book “Playbook
for Manhood: A Game Plan For Being A Real Man" were
purchased. The DiCocco’s late son Frank who also founded
the non-profit wrote the book.
The educational literature is now being implemented in classrooms,
athletic departments, homes and camps as a framework to
instruct young people.
The following
evening Kathy and Lou DiCocco joined Coach Daniels at
the Dwyer Panthers’ Banquet Dinner at the Abacoa Golf
Club in Jupiter, Florida where they presented high
school senior and team Captain Gerald Hearns with a
Coach Frank D. B. DiCocco Memorial Scholarship check to
help in his athletic and scholarly future.
