American Friends of The Hebrew
University of Jerusalem will host
its Leaders of Distinction Dinner on
Saturday, March 26th and the Annual
Leadership Educational Forum on
Sunday, March 27th. Both
events will be held at the Four
Seasons Resort in Palm Beach.
On March 26th, the American Friends
of The Hebrew University will
present the Leaders of Distinction
Award to leaders and humanitarians
who have made an impact in their
local communities and on behalf of
the State of Israel. The national
award will be presented to Sheila
Engelstein, Ellen Klersfeld, Mildred
and Abner Levine, Dr. Maria Spinak
and Rita Wolfson. A special
Lifetime Acheivement Award will be
presented to Mary and Leonard Cordes.
Rita Bogen will serve as chairman.
Among the event’s highlights will be
a keynote address by distinguished
speaker Dan Senor, author,
geopolitical expert, investor, and
adjunct senior fellow for Middle
East studies at the Council on
Foreign Relations. Senor is the
co-author of the New York Times
best seller Start Up Nation: the
Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle
which addresses the question: How is
it that Israel, a country of 7.1
million people, only sixty years
old, surrounded by enemies, in a
constant state of war since its
founding, with no natural resources,
produces more start-up companies
than large, peaceful and stable
nations? Senor studied at The Hebrew
University and completed his MBA at
Harvard Business School.
On March 27th, Hebrew University’s
renowned scientists and professors
will share their ground breaking
discoveries related to medical
research and their perspectives on
Middle East affairs at the Southeast
Region’s Annual Leadership
Educational Forum.
The educational forum is open to the
public and will showcase
a variety of topics of global impact
at the all day conference that
includes breakfast and lunch.
Best-selling author Dan Senor will
kick off the forum as the special
guest speaker covering Start-Up
Nation & Israel and the Changing
Face of Middle East Politics.
Richard Chesnoff, foreign
correspondent and contributing
editor to US News and World
Report, Ambassador Carmi Gillon,
Vice President of External Relations
at Hebrew University and National
Security expert, and Professor
Menachem Hofnung will serve on the
discussion panel. Other topics
include:

Hebrew University: A Research
Powerhouse, Understanding How the
Brain Works and When Emotions Have a
Mind of Their Own.
